Splitting and hauling wood; the reward is a lovely fire in the relatively warm, minus 10 C weather. I love winter. Maybe not the freezing rain (at minus 15? What the heck) but the snow yes.

This is BIG learning for hubby and I. So many plans for the hide once it is smoked and softened. We had to put this away as rawhide when winter hit and will finish in spring. If the winter wait hurts the final stages, we will use the rawhide for snowshoes and drums.
Moose hide stretched as final scraping from hair removal is worked on by seated woman.

My mom’s family is very musical and when we got together, we all would play, sing, and dance for hours. Lots of laughter too! I loved breaks too where grandma would have food and always wild blueberry pie with farm cream.
