Home of the soon to be the premiere Tokusatsu podcast (hopefully).
And with Blazar over, my focus will wholly be over here. So next week I'm back on Jetman.

its indebted to the Brave and Yuusha shows, as well as the work Obari himself had done previously in the same manner that Gurren Lagann was indebted to shows of the 70s and 80s. It lovingly references the past, but also tweaks it on the nose a bit.

Sadly I could see that, but I'm hoping this will be more like Jay's US Title run to give Finlay some more prestige.

To be fair the Global Title match was my upper-card match of the night. I hope NJPW can resist starfucking the title away, but history is against me there.

Also I want to point out how hilarious (and on point) it is that everyone else's jets get cool attacks and Raita just drop rocks on people.

I really dug this episode, Kaori gets fleshed out a bit; though it does kind of feel like she only went with Jetman because they were the least worst option. I suspect part 2 is going to have some combination action, so this episode gets a Road Dimension/10.

Kaori's jet gets taken out by Road Dimension, which leads to the rare (and highly successful) Gai and Ryu double team attack. But with Kaori out of the fight what's going to happen? And then we get hit with a 'To be Continued!'

Today in monster biology: the Dimension Bugs are what let the monsters grow to their bigger form. I can't remember if we saw that in Episode 1.

So much for that big merger.

Ryu keeps snatching defeat from the jaws of victory when it comes to Kaori. I'm pretty sure Gai wants to punch both him and Shoichirou.
December 30, 2023 at 10:58 PM
Meanwhile Vyram has turned the literal roads against humanity, which is pretty brilliant; plus we get this guy.
December 30, 2023 at 10:53 PM
Shouichiro is pretty much the worst, basically wanting merry Kaori for the sake of a business merger and then he outright mocks her for being a part of Jetman.
December 30, 2023 at 10:51 PM
I think we've found her enabler.
December 30, 2023 at 10:45 PM
An interesting scene where Kaori, who up until now has been the most positive and supportive member, draws the line at dealing with machines. We see a selfish side of her that's unexpected, but should be interesting. Ryu handles this about as poorly as one might think.

This was another good episode, the killer faucets was a neat idea; though Faucet Dimension himself was just an okay design. I'll give it a Wing Gauntlet/10!
December 30, 2023 at 1:19 AM
And we end the episode on a staredown between Vyram and Jetman. Its kind of amusing that Ryu does not realize that Maria is clearly his lost love; I guess the Toadette outfit is too confusing for him.
December 30, 2023 at 1:17 AM
I'm always amused when shows pull things out of nowhere, like when Ryu tells Gai to use this; but there's no way Gai knew it existed before now.

I love that they have a pickup truck with a laser canon on it.
