Today I went to the Made In Ancient Egypt exhibition at The Fitzwilliam Museum. Amazing to see these examples of skilled craftsmanship that are thousands of years old. The tiny frog amulets were my favourites!

Just finished watching The Thursday Murder Club & thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes there were changes from the book but I felt the 4 main characters were accurate & even Pierce Brosnan didn't annoy me as much as I thought he would! Cosy crime starring 4 legendary older actors - who could want more?

Currently on holiday so decided to have a browse through the #historyextra podcasts. As a cheese lover I was naturally drawn to the Cheese History podcast. Now craving some proper English cheddar (not available on Crete, although they have some delicious cheeses too).

I've watched the first episode of the BBC's adaptation of #TowardsZero & I'm not sure if I approve of all the changes made from the book but wow, Angelica Houston's English accent is flawless.

What a superb piece of TV #WolfHall was. Mark Rylance will surely win a BAFTA for his performance but Damian Lewis also deserves the plaudits for his portrayal of Henry VIII. I’m sure Hilary Mantel would have approved.

Thank you #BBC for reshowing #TheBoxOfDelights to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its first broadcast. A magical Christmas treat to be able to enjoy it in HD. Hoping the Blu-ray will be waiting for me under the tree on Christmas Day!

40 years ago today the BBC aired the first episode of its children's series #TheBoxOfDelights. Based on a book by John Masefield it tells the story of Kay Harker & his adventures with a magical box during the Christmas holidays. Thanks to VHS & later DVD I've watched it almost every Christmas since!

Based on a book by John Masefield it tells the story of Kay Harker & his adventures with a magical box during the Christmas holidays. Thanks to VHS & later DVD I've watched it almost every Christmas since!
Such a shame GB didn’t make it to the final of #BillieJeanKingCup but they should still be proud of getting to the semi-final.
