I don't really care about baseball, but I hate the Yankees. Also, my mom (90) and her circle of friends (all over 85) are big Jays fans. So I've been getting Jays news through the lens of the church ladies for a few years.

Goderich. I hadn't thought about it until a friend moved to that area of Ontario and pronounced it God-er-ich.
Nope - it is Godrich.
And Palmerston which for most of my childhood was Pamerston but that might have been the Scottish influence. I grew up hearing 'cam' for calm

Just saying it again; 220 - age is not your max heart rate. It is an approximation (as they say). I know because I keep hitting a number in excess of that (now that I have a wearable). I've confirmed it using a pulse oximeter. It is really hard to sing at that level I try! Opalite & Ophelia!

I agree. I know people in both systems - those who have worked in private schools & those who work in the public system (across Canada). Right now, private schooling does not contribute to a better society (IMO) & it definitely erodes public schools (mostly info from AB).

So true. Also, don't put a hydrangea in charge of a cactus (or vice versa) unless the people are aware of their differences and are emotionally intelligent enough to work around those.

Great analogy on a meeting rn:
Hydrangeas need a lot of water in the summer, cactus, none.

Some employees/colleagues are hydrangeas and need a lot of tending. Some people are cactus and just want to be left alone to do their job.

This is true of so many people and is situational.

I definitely believe in the value of religion and its perspectives. I just think that it's way too political right now.
My roots of western religions remains one of my favourite courses but and where we are right now is very volatile

Had friends in the Catholic school system in ON in the '60s & '70s. I know how abortion rights were presented & know people who suffered physical / emotional harm from not being able to get an abortion. Yes, single issue but I'm there because we know what's already happening with this & MAID

Also, just an absolute no to any public funding that goes to religious leaning anything in the current environment. I'm tired of it being weaponized against women. I can't believe the current generation is refighting what my generation fought; which is women's rights to bodily autonomy.

One of the first things we need to do and you may have covered this, is get rid of two school boards. It's redundant and expensive. We are one of the few provinces that have that structure in place. Others got rid of it years ago.

Definitely. In the old days of #MvsW met my 'family' on Twitter. Still keep in touch with some including @generationxwing.bsky.social & others. @dnfloyd.bsky.social came to visit!

The head office of a company that I worked for had a serious electrical fire that was caused by an improperly plugged in PC. The connection was still complete enough to have the electricity arc. Heat built up in the wall ... fire. The age of the building might have contributed. I don't know
