Reintroducing myself. I'm a diehard leftie, an editor & teacher @ Lighthouse Writers. I've published 2 novels. A memoir that took abso-effen-lutely forever to complete (SHE'S UNDER HERE) is coming next fall from Algonquin Books. Looking forward to meeting more lit community folks.

I have to fly back to LA early on the 14th or I'd be at your DC reading for sure, Amber. Will console myself with the book.

Lisa, we don't know each other at all, but I just wanted to jump in and say that often, when I'm scrolling, I'll read a post that just hits in all the right ways, prose-wise, and it quite frequently turns out to be one of yours.

Hi Hannah! Looking forward to meeting you (and hearing you read) on Saturday night at Andrew's thing.

Well, this was awfully nice to hear. Thank you, Ann!

Stayed up until 3:30 AM reading this book. Not only is it psychologically and emotionally gripping: the writing is beautiful. You should be incredibly proud of this book, @karenpalmer.bsky.social. 💗
A copy of the book She's Under Here: A Love Story, A Horror Story, A Reckoning by Karen Palmer. The book is on a kitchen counter.

I was today years old when I learned that MJs "Smooth Criminal" is not about gangsters but personal violence, and (I think?) a murder.

My last was out after 9/11.

Yes indeed. Champagne for us all.

I've missed all this. What is going on with the mods? (I too so rarely see or have conversations on here — it's kinda depressing.)

Wistfully thinking about what this would look like in the US, except that it never would.

Great news, everyone! Looks like Ireland is making their Basic Income for Artists program permanent! This is after a recent public consultation that showed 97% support for the program.

me to the husband: I was deeply touched by the T-shirt's note, but.

husband: The T-shirt says, "Yeah, writing's on the wall."

husband: The T-shirt says, "Everything comes to an end."

me: The T-shirt has seen the Sopranos?

How long until she goes over? What do you think?

I threatened to throw out the husband's T-shirt, so the T-shirt left me a note.
Old motorcycle T-shirt with torn neck and holes. Post it note says: "I never said the things that guy pretended I said. Just want to set the record straight. Do what you need to do."

I have a high tolerance for what goes on in crime shows, but Monster: the Ed Gein Story sickened me so much I had to give up. The insanity depicted felt too close to what's happening in the country right now: the delusion, the stylized fascism, the sheer brutality, the weaponization of religion.
