Canada post is essential in small communities. Couriers don't deliver to PO Boxes. And not everyone gets their bills and mail electronically. Some older people still use paper bills and don't have access to tech. Plus some people don't have wifi - god forbid people have a choice.

Courage. Tenacity. Moral fortitude. Pass it on.

This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system.

I am not fearful — I am fearless.

We will fight these baseless charges aggressively, and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights..

I read his book a few years back and thought he made a lot of really important points. Since you were kind enough to recommend a book to me, I'll return the favour and recommend one to you -- about building community and practicing reciprocal care.

"...collective defiance can interrupt the machinery of repression and expose the moral bankruptcy of those in power. The lights are going out fast, but they are not yet extinguished. Justice, equality, and freedom can still be made the foundation of a radical democracy – but only if we act."

I truly believe our community’s presence today mattered, and that by flooding the zone, we made it harder for ICE to harm our neighbors, and may have prevented greater harm.

I did this, it worked (as it always does) and I was able to reach a resolution on a challenging problem that I’ve been facing.

This might be one of the best things I’ve ever found for $1.75. Very much “Pollyanna” vibes, but that’s me anyway. ☺️

Cool thing is, my mother taught me this technique when I was a child. It works! If you ask yourself why 7 times, and answer honestly, you will get to the bottom of your problem.
A picture of a long, large yellow card box, and in it are dozens of yellow cards, it’s part of a 365 daily prompts challenge called better than yesterday. The card for today says, “but why?” Here’s me showing the back of the card that says:

THINK ABOUT SOMETHING
THAT'S MAKING YOU ANXIOUS. NOW ASK YOURSELF WHY AND ANSWER. KEEP REPEATING THE PROCESS UNTIL YOU GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE ISSUE.
The more self-aware you are, the more equipped you are to remain positive and energetic.

This is fantastic news. I've been waiting and waiting for some sort of announcement along these lines and my patience has been rewarded. Congratulations, Theresa. I'm so happy for you.

I'm feeling a really powerful need to reach out to and connect with others. I'm also aware that I have limited resources (as opposed to endless time and limitless money) so I'm trying to come up with a list of small-but-meaningful things I can do on a consistent basis.

Just sharing my thinking. 3/x
anndouglas.bsky.social
- I thought of a small-scale project I can organize and launch on my own to build community with other rural people who might otherwise end up feeling isolated during the winter months
- I thought of something simple I could do to offer support and encouragement to other creative types. 2/x

This week
- I decided to support a local arts organization via a small monthly donation
- I reached out to a non-profit organization to explore some possible volunteer opportunities
- I agreed to serve on an advisory panel for something (even though I'm practically allergic to committee work!) 1/x

Mostly miniature rubber ducks! 😂
Weird answer but it's because I ended up with a large number of rubber ducks from doing book promo for my parenting book HAPPY PARENTS, HAPPY KIDS. This will make sense if you look at the book cover. Here's an old promotional image featuring....ducks and books!
A bunch of rubber ducks (yellow ducks and blue ducks) climbing up a staircase made up of copies of the book HAPPY PARENTS HAPPY KIDS by Ann Douglas. The book features rubber ducks on the cover.

I do a fair bit of pre-emptive unfollowing/muting/blocking as well. If I spot someone causing a lot of unnecessary drama, I opt out of the privilege of knowing that person. 😂
