Perhaps our 8 feckless @democrats.senate.gov along w/Schumer felt that today's anniversary of the 1989 fall of the Berlin wall would be a great time for them to demonstrate their own cowardice in the face of authoritarian cruelty: Durbin, Shaheen, Cortez Masto, Fetterman, Hassan, Kaine, Rosen, King!

Dear Democratic Senators @democrats.senate.gov & @schumer.senate.gov - It looks like you have much to learn from the American people at tonight's Commanders-Lions Football Game about how to respond to wannabe dictators and their sycophantic followers:
Music to my ears. Being booed by 20,000+ people! Good job DC!

Exactly the response of millions of Americans who just voted last Tuesday - to the disgracing sight of 8 @democrats.senate.gov sycophantically caving to GOP - with @schumer.senate.gov willing to to allow it all to happen... When will the @democrats.org stop pulling failure out of jaws of victory?!
I am actually going to scream. Dems just swept the Tuesday elections. Trump was boo'd for two straight minutes at the Commanders game. They were considering torching the fillibuster. Polls were consistently showing more people blamed Rs for the shutdown.
Sen. Angus King on why Democrats caved: "It wasn't working."

Nice cover @kenmartin.bsky.social for this fiasco of the @democrats.senate.gov - but if you really want to work toward a blue wave in 2026, its time for you and the @democrats.org / DNC leadership to deal with the failing Senate Leadership issue. Otherwise you've got a LOSING team for 2026!
As this vote moves to the House, I stand with Democratic leadership as they refuse to rubber stamp the full-scale Republican assault on Americans’ health care and I am proud of the majority of Senate Democrats who opposed this vote.

Booo @cornelluniversity.bsky.social - what a disgrace for a once great University! Sad, sad, and shameful...

Either this will be done with Schumer’s blessing or Schumer can’t keep control of Senate Democrats.

Either way, it’s clear he cannot lead and should retire. And retire immediately if the Dems cave in and only get a “promise” of a vote on the ACA credits sometime in. December.

If Schumer thinks a no vote will absolve him of responsibility, he’s dead wrong. He’s the minority leader. It‘s his job to keep Senate Dems in line — or to hand over the job to someone who can.

I begrudge Trump and his regime, the air they breathe. For the Democrats to capitulate on the same eve as Trump being mercilessly boo’d at the Commanders game, emphasizes the need to change the leadership and old ways of the party. The public is literally screaming for new ways in place of tradition

Question for @anneapplebaum.bsky.social and most other political commentators: Why are you so afraid of using more specific terminology for dictatorial leaders intent on claiming absolute power for themselves? Applebaum in particular needs to re-read Arendt's Origins of Totalitarianism as reminder.

Once again @democrats.senate.gov have voted with GOP to pull DEFEAT out of the jaws of election victory that voters just gave them last week! 8 Dems - shamefully out of touch - have decided to cave to the GOP and their puppet master without even acknowledging significance of last week's elections!
Here are the (so far) 8 Senate Dems:
* Cortez Masto—NV
* Durbin—IL
* Fetterman—PA
* Hassan—NH
* Kaine—VA
* King—MA
* Rosen—NV
* Shaheen—NH

Ossoff and Warnock voted NO

And time for feckless Senator @schumer.senate.gov to be pushed out of leadership NOW, since he clearly can't lead his own caucus! The Dem. Senate risks losing Dems the momentum they just gained in last week's elections because of this feckless betrayal by 8, with Schumer's consent! Schumer, resign!
What do you call a leader with no followers? Just a guy taking a walk.

He's not just a senator. He's the *leader*. His job isn't his personal vote. His job is to unify and lead his caucus against the regime.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.

We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.

We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

Velshi: Democracy is not a spectator sport
Ali Velshi comments on last week’s vote results: “‘Democracy is not a spectator sport’… You can’t just watch from the sidelines, and expect democracy to succeed. You have to participate and work at it… On election night 2025, in state after state, that’s exactly what voters did.”
