Considering he had a literally daily column for about 20 years this is an above-and-beyond commitment to providing copy

Feel like what's happening here proximately is that she hasn't read a book since she was 15

Kemi Badenoch claiming Terry Pratchett as her favourite author is wild

Very funny to claim Americans eat 50 billion burgers daily. 147 burgers per person per day

Well I guess in the maternal line. And also potentially the paternal line on the Norse side I suppose.

The cartoonishly high and screwily targeted vape tax does feel a bit like they're thinking "we need to get tax revenue from this addictive substance" rather than "we need to discourage this harmful practice". But on a certain level: fair enough.

It will be interesting to see what kind of vote he pulls. He might get some of what would otherwise be spoils, and presumably some proportion of the nation will somehow have missed the news. And maybe a few thousand landlords and true blue Hillgoing Dubs who think he was hard done by?

The quota is defined according to the number of seats and the number of valid votes in a way that boils down to "50% +1" in a 1v1 race, so the quota will be met in all cases other than a draw

No because nobody can be elected or eliminated without the election being over, and therefore nobody's transfers can be allocated. It becomes FPTP in a 1v1. However in this case because Gavin is still on the ballot paper, there will be transfers.

Once again the two cats have been away being catsat (together) for a while and one has forgotten who the other is despite, once again, being littermates who have never been apart. As a result, the larger one has spent 36 hours hiding while the smaller one shows up about three times a day to hiss.

Good movie, and also one of the great early 'are you seriously asking me to believe this guy is a college student' moments of cinema as a very obviously 40-something Olivier expresses his angst

Ireland has objectively worse infrastructure than the UK but it also has a kind of "we're still working on getting to our end state" type of development vibe that brings a sunnier mood than being in England where it's getting to be a bit like Saxons building mud huts behind Roman walls.

I know a lot of discourse about the UK having gone to shit is fascist but I will say that arriving into Heathrow after three weeks of Japanese service design supplemented by 1000s of lads thanking you four times per interaction did not leave a positive impression of the UK's infrastructure flagship.

I mean in the long period when they weren't buying fighter jets they also weren't investing in climate adaptation and, vitally, when they were, it was often in the form of filling Leitrim with commercial forestry of the sort that has been falling on power lines

Saw a police car with its siren on yday and it was also just profusely apologising through a loudhailer

In Japan, the bus driver thanks you. This has the form of a joke but it isn't, I literally witnessed this today.

I bet the Labour leadership are glad they did not boot Angela Rayner for something related to tax planning for which "I followed the advice I was given" was her defence!

There are posts on the other place and here from girlfriend so it seems so. Very sad.

RIP to Kaleb Horton, a real writer.

KIM KITSURAGI - "What is it, detective? Can you make it out?"

BULLET - "if you read this you are gay lmao"

1. "It, um, doesn't say anything."

2. "Transgender ideology. My old foe."

3. [Espirit de Corps - Medium 10] "I think you should read it for yourself, Kim."

It's physically impossible to encapsulate what being in the groyper hinterland could mean in a paragraph that is parseable to the man on the Clapham omnibus. We're going to have to just settle on "weirdo" like the olden days.

I don't know if we have established that your man is a groyper despite his groyperite tendencies, and I also would not be confident he is a straight white male necessarily. Fuentes isn't a prepper homesteader Christian nationalist with 11 kids, he's a gay catboy.

The online brainrot right as Voynich manuscript. You don't know what the signs represent but even if you did you probably won't be able to connect them to a coherent message. There are some images, meaning unclear.
