You need 3 car lengths or 3 secs whichever is more. Going 60 miles an hour is 144 feet per second. No wonder you crashed.

So I lied, in order to not be able to stop in 90 feet in a sedan, you'd have to go over 100, assuming your brakes are nominal.

I knew if I asked for the speed limit you would have never answered.

There is no way, mathematically, that you cover 90 feet (6 car lengths), and say them stop, ans still ran into them going under the speed limit, even if the speed limit was 60.
