Most recently, we ran a workshop with participants at the @qubhistory.bsky.social Centre for Public History annual conference. Here are some of the results. Thanks @emmajmca.bsky.social, @alexjioannou.bsky.social and others for sharing your work.

As we tunnel into autumn, time to take stock. We have held two lovely workshops this year and talked to over 30 keen commonplacers, which has given us confidence in this method of marshalling fragments of paper in fragments of time. @katecaoimhearthur.bsky.social @lizajthompson.bsky.social

So, today went well - many small, simply constructed booklets were produced. Next time we'll be hearing from @lizajthompson.bsky.social about different ways of understanding this fragmentary form.

This in Vittles reflects my own experience of being a live-in au-pair when I was 18. €50 a week, full-time, barely ate, often found my one provided meal eaten before I finished work.

My next novel will partly be about my mad time as an au-pair www.vittlesmagazine.com/p/food-is-a-...
Food is a Battleground
How live-in nannies and domestic workers are policed through food. Words by Veronica Deutsch with testimonials from those affected.

Went to the Modern Meiji exhibition at The Asia Society in NYC a few weeks back and this embroidered (EMBROIDERED!!!) screen haunts me. It's about 6' tall and it's silk embroidery (over 250 shades of thread!!) on undyed silk. I thought it was a painting until I was close enough to se the threads.

It’s actually not so surprising. In this piece from 2011, he talks about how his Japanese wife introduced him to Kawabata.

If anyone here has heard from ACNI SIAP this round, with a yes or no, I would be so glad to know (on here or privately)!

this is like when I go to a party and end up talking loudly mainly to myself and eventually follow someone to another room and there is just no one there
