Someone in the village has created this. A threat? A warning?

What fresh hell is this?!

(Can't work out how to alt text this. It's a link to a Guardian article about products counting down to Halloween. As if outrageous commercial exploitation of a folk tradition hadn't already gone off the scale 🙄)
Fun or frightful? Halloween Advent calendars hit the shelves
Retailers stock up on countdown gifts as Britain’s enthusiasm for (and spending on) spooky holiday grows

Any Portuguese speakers able to help?

I'm taking a secular funeral for a Portuguese lady, and would like to bid her a formal 'farewell' in her own language. Nothing too complicated - while her children don't speak Portuguese her siblings will be there and I don't want to insult them!

Obrigada

I've been told I can expect a Royal Mail parcel delivery today between 9.31 and 12.31

Information that manages to be simultaneously oddly specific and unhelpfully vague 🙄

Walked out of a fundraising quiz evening last night

The cherry plum tree is loud with honey bees and bumblebees. Spring is definitely on the way

3 consecutive days now, this dog has found a tennis ball on our walk. My sister makes a little extra cash selling the golf balls her dog finds on the local course (with permission). I don't suppose these balls have much commercial value though!

Apparently today is Love Your Pet Day. Anyone else's dog pushing that to the limit by rolling in fox poo?

No?

Just us, then

Thank you, Bluesky friends, for an interesting year

For book recommendations, for new chocolate discoveries, for opening my eyes to important social matters, for cute animal pictures

May 2025 turn out better than you expect

Peace and love

Happy Christmas, Bluesky

I know it can be a complicated day for some, but I hope everyone finds moments of happiness today

Another reason why I don't go to the pictures anymore but wait for films to be shown on TV. The soundtrack is already too loud, and audiences are being urged to ask for things to be even louder!

So apparently if the sky clears I can see comet-A3 in the west in about half an hour.

It's not looking promising right now

There may be people seeing this who are upset with me. You follow me, I haven't followed back. I have looked at your profile looking for reasons to follow, but there's too little there to show me who you are. I'll keep checking, so get involved! At least you didn't make me go 'ick!' so there's hope

Apologies to local dog walkers. This is the second ball we've found this month. If you care to apply at the gate your dogs can have their toys back

People have been saying that there are fewer butterflies this year, but there are plenty of caterpillars here. That used to be my kale, you little sods!

Another "No shit, Sherlock" article. If you know the key words to use you can make these systems work for you, but too often they work as a barrier to health care. They need to be ditched

Did I overreact? A man in a writing group I coordinate sent a sexist message to a woman as feedback about her story, visible to the whole group. I sent a private message that it was not respectful or appropriate. He's now answered "it was clearly a joke" and gone off in a strop. His issue, right?
