Reader of books, anxious of mind
You’d think I’d learn by now to stop ordering new books and manga online because 90% of the time they arrive damaged.
Silly me thinking Barnes and Noble finally had their shit together. This is why I usually prefer to buy in person. 😭

Because I read so much manga, I set a higher reading goal for myself this year. I’m 6 books away, but I think I can make it.

Current read: If Cats Disappeared From the World by Genki Kawamura

I’m probably making it harder on myself, but I just use a spreadsheet, as it’s one sheet of a larger document I use for insurance purposes.
Just in case the worst happens, I want to be able to hand pictures/video and an itemized list to my insurance to prove what I owned. It gets updated frequently

November reading wrap up. It ended up being a bit heavier on manga this month, but there were some absolute gems no matter what format or genre.

Sailor Moon got me into anime/manga when I was 7 years old, but I’m finally finishing reading it for the first time… in my mid-30s.

Better late than never.

Every year I draw a holiday card containing me, my husband, and our two cats. Today, I’m working on this year’s holiday card, which is in the style of Olive Young, aka Bichi Mao.

Just one more and my special edition collection of Heaven Official’s Blessing by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu will be complete. I loved this when I first read it, and while I’m usually someone who only buys one copy of a book, this is one of the rare exceptions (It’s one book split into eight parts)

Happy Halloween from Inara. She also doesn’t like costumes. I took this picture ~10 years ago by holding a headband over her and very quickly snapping a photo.

It’s probably the best picture of her I’ve ever taken

The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy by Brigitte Knightley (mini review)
Rating: 5 ⭐️

I really enjoyed this book. I found the magic system interesting, the dialogue funny, and the characters complex and enjoyable. The only downside is the second book isn’t out yet.

When the Tides Held the Moon by Venessa Vida Kelley
Rating: 4(?) ⭐️
I’m waffling on how I feel about it. Some of it was really beautiful, but the pacing was a bit all over and the ending felt very abrupt.
Overall, I’m glad I read it. There’s a lot to like about it.

I’ve had a story kicking around in my head for years. I finally want to get it out of me, and started searching for books on writing romance. My local used bookstore was like “I got you, here’s a book on that very topic.”
Every aspiring author needs to start somewhere, so I’m hoping this helps.

September’s reads. Moving made me slow down for July and August, but I’m back at it.

Accomplice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

My Overall Impression: To me it wasn’t as strong as the first two, and felt like a filler episode.
I didn’t hate it, but I had hoped for more.

Serious organization is coming, as my husband and I just moved a little over a month ago so the first priority was just getting everything setup, but this is a good portion of our library so far.

Okay, but why am I crying reading Colette Decides to Die vol 4?

I’m finding myself relating to poor little Kotsume.

What inspired me, that I remember, was Louis Sachar’s Sideways Stories From Wayside School. My second grade teacher used to read a chapter to us after lunch every day and I loved it. I wanted to find even more fun stories, which lead me to the school library.

Most recent read for a book club I’m a part of: Arsenic and Adobo by Mia P Manansala

I think mystery isn’t the genre for me, but I love book club and our discussions.

Late uploading this, but here’s my April reading wrap-up from #thestorygraph. There’s a lot of fairytale and myth retellings going on lately, and I’m okay with that.

I collect Pokemon cards on occasion, and I pulled the Furret illustration rare. I don’t have many to share in my excitement (I love Furret and Sentret), so uh, yeah. I’m sharing my joy here.

Who are your favorite Pokemon?
