In movies, a superhero arrives around now. In the absence of that happening, I am willing to coordinate a global army of middle aged women to sort everything out. We have a lot of rage. And also combat trousers from the 90s.

A hedgehog has moved into the chicken coop, which has outraged the resident hen, Hilary. Next door’s cat has also taken to sitting next to Hilary where they look to be plotting some sort of crime, possibly against the dog. Or the hog. This might have to be a book.

And just before mentioning her husband she’s identified as ‘woman’ rather than by her actual name. It is so tiring. So so tiring.

This article manages to name her husband before it names… her.
Article reads:
Woman named as Archbishop of Canterbury in historic first

The 63-year-old archbishop-designate is married to Eamonn Mullally, with whom she has two children. Originally from Woking in Surrey, she was the UK's chief nursing officer from 1999 to 2004.

‘We will do everything to keep our Jewish community safe’

Prime Minister Keir Starmer says additional police assets are being deployed to synagogues around the country following an attack in Manchester

Hi Caroline, it is very much worth the family contacting the Coroner’s Court to discuss reporting restrictions with the Coroner. There are restrictions that can be put in place and these are set out in the Bench Book and case law. The guide here is handy. www.judiciary.uk/guidance-and...

Words are always so inadequate in these moments. Love to our Jewish friends, colleagues and community in the wake of this horrifying terrorist incident. We hold you in our hearts and prayers, and in our actions for humanity and unity and against violence and hate.

This doesn’t absolve Labour’s role in letting that argument grow. But clarity matters. And tonight, those words mattered to me.

When Starmer said no one can be denied Britishness because of their skin a long-buried pressure eased in me.
For years there's been a slow grind of prejudice dressed up as “legitimate concerns” amplified by politicians & media until it felt normal. It makes you feel smaller where you should belong.

Wow Starmer finally drawing a line!

"If you say or imply that people cannot be English or British because of the colour of their skin, that mixed-heritage families owe you an explanation... If you say that they should now be deported, then mark my words - we will fight you with everything we have".

Just been on R4 to talk about the NHS Online announcement!
Some thoughts:
Really good in principle could open access to many who can’t reach or access hospital services.

*sorry for using ‘migrant’ in this post - I mirrored the news story in language, but I think it’s a dehumanising term and not one I like to use.

Our society is so greatly enriched by migrants. Our own families who moved here across generations to work, and those who do so today. This othering of those who already contribute so much is so distressing. Our politicians so lost in this relentless rhetoric. This is not who we are. 2/2

Many migrants work in the public sector, contributing vast numbers of unpaid hours to the bank of goodwill that closes public service funding gaps. Many attend church and places of worship that significantly contribute socially and financially to local communities 1/2

Why is Labour’s comms strategy to constantly talk about Reform? It’s just endlessly platforming them. Not leading the news with their policies at their own conference, but on what they have say about Reform - giving the platform straight over to Reform to comment. Please stop it!

Every so often I buy a fancy organic face cream made from the tears of bees or whatever and have to almost immediately replace it with metronidazole or maybe even a lovely tetracycline because my skin hates me and my notions.
