More from the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta yesterday morning.

Ha ha ha! This is so perfect! Especially for yesterday. Not where the balloon pilot wanted to land, and the pilot and crew made it work. Sometimes jumping barbed wire fences and getting nearly being bitten by a rattlesnake is part of the hobby... @lcornelas.bsky.social @joshuagrubbsphd.bsky.social

Also great to get in a few days of running in Brussels before/after the meeting. I love exploring new cities by getting lost on foot!

Talking to European colleagues about the state of science and life in the U.S. at ESBRA was both depressing and validating.

@matwmccool.bsky.social gave a phenomenal talk and ❤️ shoutouts to @cassie-boness.bsky.social by @pierremaurage.bsky.social and to Tori Votaw by George Koob!

A show of bipartisan support for NIH. Basically flat except for ARPA-H.

The President’s budget proposal basically ignored (as it should have been).
ianlmorgan.bsky.social
House LHHC bill is out. Lots of hits to HHS, but the top line number for NIH is 1% decrease, mostly due to cuts ARPA-H. This seems like a huge rejection of the president's budget request.

New Mexico is an amazing place and so proud of the efforts to support public health.
luckytran.com
New Mexico has issued a public health order that removes federal restrictions to COVID-19 vaccine access so that pharmacies in New Mexico can vaccinate people of all ages and risk profiles. Every state need to do this!

🤣 so at first I laughed hysterically, but then as a former artist I remembered that the numbers are pencil lead softness or hardness. A 2 is perfect for writing. 1 is too light/hard.

Awww Battle Creek is great. Haven’t been there for balloons but would love to see it. I use Navarro learningstatisticswithr.com for intro/foundation and then Darlington and Hayes for textbook.
