Diana, a HUD employee in New York, was fired, rehired, & then refired during what would have been her maternity leave... “I had to delay my kid’s one-year doctor’s appointment,” she says. “That visit included the MMR shot. I was worried about him getting the measles.”

Americans & Europeans needlessly exposing African babies to preventable diseases just to see if they can find something that would justify their preexisting antivaccine beliefs is not only unscientific and actually anti-science, it is very much reminiscent of colonialist, racist human rights abuses
“It is not clear what the research question is. It seems to be about the safety of the vaccine rather than its effectiveness, but both are already well-established, and to undertake such a study in a population where almost 1/5 of the adult population has a marker of infection seems extremely risky”

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

Feeling much safer now that ICE is ripping a baby from the arms of a father having a seizure, and then pretending he didn’t have a seizure and lied about it! Thank you, ICE!!!! 🫡🫡🫡
A man appeared to fall unconscious during an arrest while clutching a baby. ICE said the video people saw did not accurately represent the situation. The Dept of Homeland Security posted: "Imagine FAKING a seizure to help a criminal escape justice". They were taking his wife

I can’t stop thinking about how the ACA is one of the most impactful pieces of legislation in my lifetime.

And they just let them throw it away.

I know it’s been long enough that a lot of people don’t remember (or weren’t alive), but I haven’t forgotten what it was like Before.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?
