Hi, Bluesky! I'm a newbie here and still figuring things out, but he's an introduction.

I write mysteries and contemporary books ( #middlegrade so far, and also stay tuned!) I'm the author of the critically acclaimed Drew Leclair mystery series and We Are Not Alone (out now!)

I love book dorks so much 🤓 They are my people.

In good news (which I know I need these days), my book Drew Leclair Gets a Clue (which has been challenged in four states, and had been pulled from shelves in one county in Florida) seems to have been restored to shelves! Not sure if it's been relocated to YA but I'll take the win 🎉

It's so hard to move past even though I know I need to. It's this injustice sensitivity because I think, being on their side, I should be able to get them to see truth but I can't 😔

To be clear, my expectations are "people who have means should be willing to get fired over fascism." Jimmy Fallon already has millions. He has a late-night career far longer than the average lifetime career of most pro athletes. He could walk away now and be FINE.

Oh crap these were literally ALL me today

Thanks to @katrynwrites.bsky.social and her podcast WRITE WHERE IT HURTS, I am now getting serotonin bursts from Amy Poehler's new podcast A GOOD HANG which is already a great thing alone but it took me to this opening of the first episode.

Elio is brilliant and it's hard not to assume that Disney so spectacularly shit the bed on marketing because of its themes of inclusion and acceptance.

Can you speak more strongly on this? A few posts about this being a mistake isn't enough.

Los Angeles needs you front and center right now. California needs you to have our back.

Where are you?

This is so incredibly well said.

Take note, querying authors! I was 250 rejections and several books in the hole when I did DVPit and it changed my life 🥰

Hi, all! Realizing that I'm spending problem amounts of time online and overwhelmed when I could be writing/calling my reps and responding to local issues. For the next 100 days, I'm gonna be offline and focused on that work. Bye for a bit! 👋🏻

* The theme is "building" but that can be very vague--building community, etc. Send me your STEM kids, your young chefs, your graphic novels. I want it all!

Hi, #booksky ! I'm trying to make a big push to get my org to commit to buying more books by marginalized authors, even for the non-culture-specific book giveaways like Summer Reading. Drop your book (last 5 years) in picture book, CB, MG, YA (fiction, but especially nonfiction! Give me your joy!

So thrilled to see that Drew Leclair Gets a Clue was chosen by a Michigan middle schooler as Canton Public Library's best books!

It makes me so happy to see that kids are still discovering this book after three years 🥹

Canton Public Library's "kids pick best books" form. 11 year old says that their pick, DREW LECLAIR GETS A CLUE (cover pictured) is their favorite because of the twists in the mystery, the queer rep, and it being a good book in general"
