I won't believe it until Trump is gone, but I've seen a few of these kinds of posts this week. There is still hope.🤞

Reform voters are driven by their own failings and absorb the lies Farage/Reform claim about immigrants and making life easier. Yet considering the polls, if they just look at what Reform was selling them, they would see Reform will give them the opposite of what they want.

The Merging Love of Ali and Nino - Batumi, Georgia,
by Tamara Kvesitadze
This sculpture represents the love between a Muslim boy, Ali and a Georgian princess, Nino from a famous 1937 novel. It is a beautiful portrayal of tragic love as they are parted by the invasion of Russia. Relevant even today.

Our water companies are an obvious example of how this country is failing. The rich are getting fatter on the back of our misery. Stop profits going to those that pay no taxes and renationalise our privatised industries.

Since privatisation England's water companies paid £88.4bn in dividends.

90% of water companies owned by foreign investors/govts.

90% of dividend not recirculated in the UK economy. No UK tax paid on dividends.

Public ownership would make a difference.
If the government wants economic growth it must bring essential industries into public ownership
Successive governments clobber households and small businesses by hiking interest rates to manage inflation, but don’t inconvenience corporations.

Thank you Duncan-Jordan, we need more of our politicians to step up like this to protect our wildlife

Neil Duncan-Jordan, MP for Poole, has warned that loopholes in current laws are allowing fox hunting to continue under different names despite the 2005 ban.

He has written to Angela Eagle, the new minister for rural affairs, urging her to act “before another season of suffering.”

I'd go with the word 'futile', but respect for anyone that had to sit through it.

There should be a word for a huge but pointless event, such as a leader making announcements in a conference speech that will never be implemented and which not even the faithful will pay any attention to because the leader will be gone in a matter of months.

She did, Thatcherism led to the difficulties we face today. Having her face appear again just ruined my morning coffee😁

Badenoch in her ignorance has ignored an English degree provides you with written and verbal skills. If she had acquired these she would look less like a person drowning in deep water and be able to communicate with the British public.

Calling English a 'rip-off degree' is one of the most blatant exhibitions of personal barbarism I've ever seen. You've demonstrated nothing but the poverty of your own mind.

I agree there are key differences with comparisons of actions then and now, an example the academics leading burning books, but I still see similarities, the issue with scapegoating isn't the individual is Jewish but more that they are a minority and as such an easy target, but an interesting read

So, the plan is to cut English, the arts, and sociology - the degrees that actually study culture - while on another part of your platform claiming to “defend” British culture.

It’s performance nationalism with a reading age of seven.
Badenoch: Curb students taking 'rip-off' degrees such as English
The performing arts, sociology and anthropology are among the subjects the Conservatives would like to cut

Yes we do Claire, it would help if more journalists would actually do their job and challenge him.
kaybell27.bsky.social
True, but our economy has never been their first thought as Badenoch and Farage also want to scrap NetZero policies which not only protect the environment but are now making considerable profits.

Once again, the Telegraph seems shocked that the EU is acting like… the EU.

This is exactly what sovereignty looks like when you’re on the outside.
Ruthless EU has just taught Starmer a painful lesson

I'm the same, to this day I still despise Thatcher and many of the Tory policies during that era. It says a lot that I can hear some of them now and think they sound reasonable in comparison to the new right wing extremist Tory MP's.
kaybell27.bsky.social
They are, they are not patriots they wish to reject our traditions and values.
kaybell27.bsky.social
I've never supported the Tories but I relate more to individuals like Chris Patten and Michael Heseltine. My father knew the Heseltine's and although I didn't always agree with him (I did about Europe) he is genuinely a fair person. Many of their ilk are turning to the Libs/Greens

True Jane, globally politics is pretty much a 'shitshow' at the moment

Science again proving vaccines work. We need to recognise that Farage/Reform promote the same anti-science, anti vaccine rhetoric as Trump, another reason don't vote for them

Anything that genuinely helps promote positivity and inclusion Badenoch wants to remove. These subjects all help tackle social injustice as they bring communities together and provide the foundation for international connections, for trade and cultural exchanges. Her plan would isolate us.
kaybell27.bsky.social
Whilst I'm no fan of the Tories I'm not sure that will be an advantage, at least until more recently the moderates have held back the more extreme members. This will leave us with the only party on the right being Reform and there is no moderation at all in Reform and really only one voice Farage.
