Book 1 of 2026: Under the Rainbow by Celia Laskey - 3 stars. Decent book, but the blurb promises something that sounds much more hopeful and lighthearted than the actual content delivers. Darker than I was expecting with some other tone issues #books #booksky

I've set my new reading goal at 60 books, same as last year. Next post will be my top five books I read in 2025. These are books I read for the first time in 2025, not necessarily ones published in 2025 #books #booksky

I took a social media break that lasted longer than intended, but with the new year I want to get back to posting. Here's a new blanket I got for Christmas, but as you can see Amy immediately claimed it for herself. Happy New Year!

Whoops, fell behind on these. Confessions by Kanae Minato, translated by Stephen Snyder: 3.5 stars, finished Feb 10th. I liked this novella, despite it dragging things out perhaps more than necessary. The ending comes together well. #booksky

DNF a little under halfway. A book that was trying to be edgy in a way only a middle class suburban teen could appreciate. Unrelenting misogyny, tedious lectures from a dull protagonist disguised as dialogue, and absolutely nothing new to say about the concepts presented #booksky

Book 10/60, finished Feb 5th, 3 stars. Interesting characters but extremely shallow worldbuilding and a thin plot. I liked the characters enough that I will probably read the next book at some point #booksky

Book 9/60, finished Jan 30th, 2 stars. Frothy even compared to the first two books. Depended on the MC catching the Idiot Ball just to get to the climax. I wasn't impressed. #booksky

Book 8/60, finished Jan 28th, 4 stars. This is the second book of a series I'm really enjoying right now #booksky

I think I've been ALL of these at some point #booksky

Book 7/60, finished Jan 27th, 4 stars. Really interesting but not quite what I was expecting. The conclusions are mushy. I still recommend. #booksky

Book 6/60, finished Jan 23rd, 4 stars. Next stop on the Stephen King reread. #booksky

Book 5/60, finished Jan 17th, 2 stars. The writing is good, but my god is this book boring.

Book 4/60, finished Jan 16th, audiobook, 2.5 stars. Another book that is mostly fine, except the two main characters are irritating in their general incuriosity and lethargic response to everything. It's a horror! React to something!

Book 3/60, finished Jan 12th, 3.5 stars. A mix of things I really loved and things I found not very well done. Not the strongest book, but I want to try this author again. #booksky

Book 2/60: Finished Jan 7th, 3 stars. Not bad, but the direction the narrative chose to go with the antagonist was unfortunately the most uninteresting option. #booksky

Book 1/60 (hopefully), finished Jan 4th. 2.5 stars, started well but collapsed on itself halfway through. Not sure what makes it Gothic.

So hey, I was going to use this to post books as I finished them this year and then I forgot. So I'll be playing catch up in the next few posts

I finished the outline of an original play I'm writing. It's a mess, but it's progress #writing
