The United States Military Academy has just eliminated all Cadet clubs and activities for POC. Most of these have existed for decades like the Society of Black Engineers. They were there when I was a Cadet in 1987. All of the religious ones remain. This isn’t DEI. It’s white Christian Nationalism.

I'm sorry, but "they took over the whole federal payments system, fired the career staff, and won't let anybody see what they're doing" is not a situation in which you wait for more information. It's a situation in which you assume the worst. There's no explanation for it other than rampant crimes.

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

I teach at a high school where 53 students have lost homes to the Eaton Canyon fire. I grew up in Altadena and lost my former home. My students compiled a list of 99 GoFundMe accounts of our kids and other local families. The impact is going to be significant, these kids need us. They need 1/2 🧵

My hometown and neighborhood is decimated. My old house is gone, my best friends house is gone and I watched both burn on the news. Everything I knew and loved growing up is gone. Memories are only left. I feel like a weird orphan, this is devastating. So many of my students lost their homes. 😭💔🌹

Aging parents are hard. Aging maga parents are nearly impossible. At least they didn’t bring up politics this week because I had signs posted on my doors that said “politics free zone”. But the glaring at me in MY home is bullshit and makes me lose any respect I had. It was painful. 😓

I teach the kids about Libby on the first day of school every year, make them download it and ask their parent to get them a library card. Then I show them all the magazines, cool books, audiobooks of assigned readings and access for FREE! Free is a teenager’s favorite word. I’ve sold them on free.

I teach HS English and every year I encourage my students to set a reading goal and play a competitive game against themselves to see if they can reach it. My goal is 50 novels a year. Sometimes I reach, sometimes I don’t. The kids actually love following along as I come and explain the plot 1/2
