my dad played & was told he likely has CTE. he’s told me stories about how well they were treated on the outside, but their bodies are so abused & they don’t realize it. then they go out into the real world not knowing how things actually work

In independent social media, the greatest sin isn't racism, transphobia or even CSAM content.

The greatest sin is telling white people they do not have unlimited access to our spaces.

Because you *never* see white people get as activated as they do about Black social media autonomy.

caring for each other, seeing each other, protecting each other, are how we survive this. looking into “why” things are as they are and being curious about the effects these things have on others is how we survive this. we have to return to our cultural practices that whiteness tried to erase.

and this is what’s permeating the air in the states now. despair & destruction. we will destroy ourselves if we don’t start caring

so we tend to do crime because we have to. we tend to kill first and ask questions later because we are constantly under threat of loss, displacement, racial profiling sending us to jail if a cop is feeling particularly froggy.

why should we care if nobody else cares about us? it’s dark

we slipped into a disregard for life because our lives are so heavily disregarded. it’s simple. and it’s happening to the kids. why go to school if we’re being taught lies? why work if we’re padding the pockets of those exploiting us?

so we got people in the hood with beat up ass cars they can’t afford to fix in this unwalkable ass city. they also can’t fix their cars because the city won’t fix the streets, so why should they fix their cars?

white people here smile in our faces & tell us to be grateful, then they white flight to the suburbs and take our money with them.

we’ve lived in this state of survival for so long that we don’t know it’s not normal. we don’t realize we’re poor or lacking because we’ve been feasting on breadcrumbs the whole time.

state minimum wage is still $7.25, only downtown is walkable, public transport is seen for poor ppl, we have more physical labor jobs, lack of education funding… it all leads to poverty, mental health issues, etc.
