The discourse around equating abuse to mental illness and calling people “narcissists” has been on going for years; are we ready to talk about why they aren’t mentally ill at all, and it’s written into the bylaws of patriarchal & misogynistic societies- even their scripture?
For years, women have been collectively speaking on “narcissistic abuse” as if it exists in a vacuum of mental illness; it doesn’t. It is a pattern of behaviors and beliefs that exist in abusive patriarchal & oppressive societies & systems. Our government is abusing us.

As a DV educator I've been trying to explain how our relationship to the gov is so similar to abusive relationships with each other. This is by design. We don't learn abuse on our own, it funnels down from the systems we live and is another way we hurt each other in the name of the system we ignore

When are we all going to collectively acknowledge that the ways we continue to divide ourselves is the problem? Want real and sustainable change & revolution? You’re going to have to reach deeper and identify with your fellow marginalized humans more than your political affiliation.
Honestly, if you’re still identifying as liberal & progressive at this point, then you’ve missed the entire point. I’m looking at the libs who launched attacks at voters who were abstaining in opposition without a shred of understanding.

Imani is spot on and generously out here educating us all; listen and understand you have been taught a very little about the true history of the civil rights movement and what radical resistance & opposition truly looked like. I hope liberals and the left are ready to listen to hear & learn.
Oh and the “Resistance” we’re going to see from liberals in the coming years will get them kylled because the civil rights movement that it is modeled after, as it is taught to all Americans, is a sanitized version of what people were really doing to resist.

I hear what you guys are saying about the Oscars, and how they're a celebration of life, and the show must go on, blah-blah-blah, so-on-and-so-forth. It all makes a degree of sense, but to me it still feels like Nero fiddling while Rome burns. Or in this case, wearing fancy clothes while LA burns.

In Maine, Medicaid has already begun ending coverage for Telehealth services that have been vital to disabled and isolated people in rural communities. Speak up.
This will mean the deaths of some of your disabled friends & peers. Please care enough to speak up for us.
