#UTcommtheory The most memorable theory was the family communication/structure theory. It was extremely enlightening for me to learn about the different ways that each family communicates and how it effects each member in the long run.

#UTcommtheory This course opened my eyes to how deep a lot of things that we consider shallow are. Communication theories are the reason for a lot of people's behavior, habits, and personality. My biggest take away is how these theories give an explanation to how most people are.

#UTcommtheory agenda-setting theory is relevant now more than ever because of the ever-so changing political and economic climate. The internet has made it easier as well. I believe most things have an agenda.

#UTcommtheory Media shapes public agenda--especially within younger demographics--by encouraging/recruiting social media influencers to speak on certain topics. Doing this allows the media to trick the public into believing they're choosing to consume the subject.

#UTcommtheory National Amusements is a media conglomerate responsible for companies such as Paramount, MTV, and CBS. NA did a really good job of setting the foundation for reality tv. They brought representation of realistic, everyday people to televisions through comps, real-life, and stories.

#UTcommtheory Unfortunately, I have a parasocial relationship with Cillian Murphy. I wish I could provider a deeper reason other than me finding him charismatic. This relationship brings me eye candy and dopamine 🤦‍♀️ lot's of cognitive dissonance with this one.

Context: Trying to appeal to diverse groups of people is extremely difficult (context collapse).

#UTcommtheory AI has significantly decreased my writing skills, but not for the same reason as most. I'm huge on grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. As AI became popular, people said proper writing meant AI was used. I now have to dumb my writing + punctuation down to avoid accusations.

#UTcommtheory I exhibit assertive separation often in my life. In fact, it's a big part of who I am. The main reason is because I was outcasted a lot growing up. I was different from everyone else. I've grown to embrace my differences and even learned to use it to my advantage.

I believe that education--specifically curriculum--needs a cultural change. Reading literacy and critical thinking skills are currently at an all time low with kids. While there are many factors that contribute to this, I think education as a whole would benefit from a complete shift.

I responded most to consent decision making. I find it to be the most controversial because while it can be used to make others feel empowered, it is misused a lot in entry level jobs to give people the illusion of empathy.

There's currently a popular "medical" debate online about OTC medicines being linked to Autism. This discourse is an example of ethos because of the many medical professionals sharing their opinions. They all begin their posts by establishing credibility with their job titles. #UTcommtheory

#UTcommtheory I think that Spongebob and Squidward's relationship is a good example of openness-closedness. While Spongebob is very open and expressive with his affection for him, Squidward is extremely closed off to him. He consistently hides his true feelings and care for Spongebob most episodes.

Axiom #8: shared networks applies most to my life currently. Not only personally, but for work. I rely on it heavily to drive clients to my businesses and make connections, as it is often the best axiom for it.

I worked a retail job with notoriously bad managers. One in particular would forget to ask me to do a task, but then get upset when I didn't complete it. Very frustrating.

I grew up in a protective family. Because I come from a family of immigrants, it is in our culture to be highly respectful to elders. This often entailed muting my own voice because it was seen as disrespectful to speak loudly "against" them.

I believe quanititative research to be the most important. Quantitative research needs to be presented before other research methods can be understood. For example, you cannot begin to understand why a certain group likes icecream more than the other if numerical values aren't present.

I find phenomenological theory most appealing because it acknowledges the unique individual experience of each person, instead of treating people like statistics. It is another reason why I tend not to favor more objective approaches in communications.

My favorite theory is about mental illness and creativity. This is a long studied theory that suggests mental illnesses enhance creativity. This theory fits the definition stated in the book because it is built upon research.

I am more drawn to interpretive approaches to theorizing because it is important to factor in nuance in every situation. Doing so allows for the complete picture to be shown. The world is not black and white, especially when dealing with humans.
