Wildlife photography for fun.
It's only freedom calling.

I have a fondness for the predictability of ospreys. Found myself wondering what happens if one loses a mate. Do they come back to their eyrie alone? I hope she answers the call.

She didn't seem to mind me on the fire road stalking her as she and her babies foraged 100 yards away where the land tilted up. As the distance between the fire road and the mountain gradually got smaller, I leapt ahead to aim at a clearing she would surely walk through. 40 yards. Perfect timing.

What once was, and is no more. Only shadows remain.

Herons are my favorite birds. I rarely see them in pairs or groups. This one posed for me as I floated by on the Little Spokane in August, 2024. Their solitary nature is familiar and comforting. #birds #heron #toseeupclose #momentintime #sonyA77ii

My great grandfather, Thomas Hanrahan, born in County Clare, c. 1879. Immigrated to Chicago, maybe with his brother Pete. Taken on his wedding day around 1910-12, to Ellen "Nellie" Maloney. Can't find him beyond that. #immigrants #irish #geneology

She surprised me as I surprised her as she carefully raised her left foreleg to step over the bush, out onto the trail. #paintedrocks #2024 #littlespokanenaturalarea #wildlifephotography
