Thinking out loud but Note to self to look into citiesdao.org As a super young, tech literate city... I really think this is something Bradford could harness.

I wonder how a DAO could be used in a local government setting. An ultra transparent improvement fund. That residents can choose to invest into and really feel their voice heard in the decision making. Transparent spending, transparent decision making.

There was that briefest of moments when councils tried to introduce the 'participatory budget' where residents could openly decide how money was spent by the council. From memory, I think this was actually trialled in Keighley.

Michael Harrisons attempt at a 'SIX'?

I came up with one today - Salem Witch trials... everyone gets killed (nearly) at the hands of some religious men who are off their heads... just like SIX and the opening number is entitled 'Witch, Please?!' I think it's a goer.

As an aside... I do love your art and I'm assuming you aren't an arsehole!

Do you know the Birmingham Surrealists? As it really reminds me of Melville, Maddox and Mellor et al.

I agree. But I also don't think we even need to focus on the person at all, just the art. I think the problem is more when the art enables privilege and power for the artist. Obviously this applies for living artists.

I don't have the answer either, but it's something to think about as it's spread from the media industry into all sectors of the arts now.

This book gets more and more relevant each day that goes by. We definitely need more pirates... Because we've certainly got the privateers.

And @weinersmith.bsky.social of course! These long bluesky handles are one downside... They take up a lot of characters! The plus side is, I now know what Elon is up to and I don't have to see his rocket chopsticks every day.

Welcome Joel! I've found it's much easier to find like minded, interesting folk over here on BlueSky! Hashtags actually seem to work appropriately again!
