In 2021 I wrote a post-apoc murder mystery. It was set in a post-Covid, war-ravaged world where what was left of society was finally finished off by a 2nd, far more deadly pandemic. Survivors ultimately numbered in the thousands.

Well, it looks & feels (to me anyway) like the world order went past tipping point & finally got upended. All I wanted was for 2026 to be a bit calmer, saner, more rational. Should've known better, I suppose.

I'd subvert it by having the secondary character turn to the hero & say (something like), "Go on then, f*** off."
But that's probably been done a million times as well. 😄
