Standing on library business since 2006.
Am I remembering correctly that your session was at the same time? I was torn about which to go to but the tech stuff is more urgent for my K-12 setting in this particular moment. Would love to get the slides for your session but still can't figure out that part of the ALA app 😆

I got a full-body shiver (not the good kind) whenever I had to walk past that thing. Going to the AI panel with @ebonyteach.bsky.social, @marthabee.bsky.social, and @dupatton.bsky.social was a good palate cleanser.

Lol and now I see that literally two re-posts back, @scumbelievable.bsky.social mentioned these. I'm glad a lot of us read them! I spent the late 80s/early 90s evangelizing fellow feral readers about these books, which come to think of it is, I guess, how I started in the librarian biz.

You'll never get liquor or wine in PA unless you shop at Fine Wine & Good Spirits... what we Philly oldheads call "the state store" bc it's operated by the commonwealth. (Granted, it's a monopoly of sorts & I have some quibbles with their selection at times. 😆)

I'll be sure to swing by! As a librarian and a human, I have learned so much from you about organizing (and hope!) over the years. ❤️‍🔥

Is there anywhere else we can catch you at ALA? Would love to join a session, working group, chat, etc!!

If you go w/ a new machine, the Janome HD-1000 is basic, sturdy & reliable. Good price point for what you get. No electronics, no bells & whistles, but I use it for quilting (with the right foot) so it's super durable. We have a bunch of them for checkout in my library and they've yet to break!

They had to be so stressed, but they stayed cool and collected (even when being asked for toilet paper for the umpteenth time). My own anxiety ratcheted down several notches just because of how focused and calm they were.

Thank you for saying that the books can be read in any order because a 2nd grader had a full meltdown today about wanting to read your volume without having read the others yet. He did not believe me that it was okay, so maybe he'll believe the lizard book author. 🤷‍♀️😆

My friend (40something cis, male, white centrist) was, I think, drawn to his naked ambition and perceived innovation. Loves an iconoclast. Fascinated by the "mad genius" who might take us to Mars, etc.

I live adjacent to an eldercare home, there were ambulances there day & night throughout 2020. My next door neighbor's elderly husband was deteriorating as covid hit, they moved him to a nursing home & he was dead from the virus within weeks. Mr Claude didn't have to go out like that. Heartbreaking.

Yes!!! We called it "room time" and it was just that, time in your room. 😆 To this day my adolescent kids sometime tell me to leave them alone bc they're having room time.
