Game #8: Kid Icarus (NES) My first time playing through this cult classic. I found the initial difficulty way too hard as a kid. Playing now it’s neat how the difficulty gets easier as you play. The game is fine but far from being my favourite NES game. The main theme is totally an ear worm.

Game #7: StarTropics (NES) a fun if at times frustrating Zelda lite. I never finished it until now but I have a lot of nostalgia for the music and game world.

Game #6: Metroid Dread (Switch) I bounced off this when it first came out. I couldn’t stand the EMMI sections and found the traversal to feel clunky. Now that I beat it with 100% completion my issues still stand but I did enjoy the game this time around. It’s a solid 8/10.

Game #5: Streets of Rage 4 (Switch). Finally got around to this and it’s better than I ever could have expected after waiting so long for a sequel. Excellent take on the retro beat em up.

Game #4: Shinobi III (Genesis). A top 10 Genesis game and my favourite in the Shinobi series. The action and controls are perfect and I can’t say enough about that parallax scrolling. Maybe the best looking Genesis title or at least tied with Thunder Force IV.

Game #3: The Revenge of Shinobi (Genesis). The new Shinobi game from Lizardcube has me hyped so I finally played all the way through the first Genesis game. I think I have a slight preference for Shinobi 3 but this is still a classic 16 bit action game. A blast to play even though it’s damn hard.

Game #3: The Revenge of Shinobi (Genesis). The new Shinobi game from Lizardcube has me hyped so I finally played all the way through the first Genesis game. I think I have a slight preference for Shinobi 3 but this is still a classic 16 bit action game. A blast to play even though it’s damn hard.
Game #2: Luigi’s Mansion 3. I played a few hours of this when it came out but was dealing with bad tendinitis at the time and put it down. I went back and started over. It’s one of my favourite Switch games. So much fun.

2025 Completed Games thread. Kicked off the year with the remastered Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. It’s clearly dated being a 1999 PS1 game, but I had a fun time revisiting the game. The cliffhanger ending is still jarring and underwhelming. 8.5/10.

2025 Completed Games thread. Kicked off the year with the remastered Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. It’s clearly dated being a 1999 PS1 game, but I had a fun time revisiting the game. The cliffhanger ending is still jarring and underwhelming. 8.5/10.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. A replay has me realizing I was too hard on it back in 2020. Pacing issues with stretching the Midgar section to 30+ hours but it’s still a very fun game with beautiful graphics and music. I can’t wait for Rebirth.
