Reading this release (www2.acadiau.ca/about-acadia...) makes me even more angry at the process we just endured. Acadia demonstrated both sides can commit to not only maintaining relationships but strengthening them. For me, relationships feel fractured and repair will take time.

SMU Part-Time Faculty remain some of the lowest paid across the entire country at one of the top undergrad Canadian universities.

SMU has offered us a 1% pay increase, and a shrug on contract timelines.

... 2) the issue of where Dalhousie's chaotic strategy actually came from--it does not seem to really come from Dal, which raises questions about our leadership directions and how they benefit students, the province and the country, and 3) how to repair the damage it caused, remains.

The DFA has voted to strike before without going on strike. I think that's SOP in Canada right now for faculty unions. Maybe it was only inevitable because the admin had already decided on a lockout.

At today’s DFA rally, I was pleasantly surprised to see a silly meme I made blown up on a picket sign. Definitely adding meme famous to my CV. If I’m ever not locked out. Attached again for your consideration. I think it’s just as appropriate now.

While we wait for news (hopefully good), let's remember that it was totally obvious from Pres Brooks announcement of the lockout that the lockout was going to do a lot of damage, including delaying the Fall term. And still she did it.

1) Millions from operating were directly transferred to capital

2) policy choices directed surpluses not to operating but elsewhere

❌ They don’t show up to bargain
❌ They lock out faculty
❌ They jeopardize the fall semester
