I normally don't mind Christmas shopping, I'm one of those people who kind of likes trying to think presents. But I'm lowballing it this year. It has been a really tough year for me; hosting my poorly friend and losing my job has been tough, and my bf has had a really shit time, too.

Has anyone had #TTRPG campaigns that weren't bad but weren't really great either, like just really mid. That sorta describes my fortnightly Tomb Of Annihilation game. We've been playing a while and basically everything hits at like 5/10 for me.

Sorta depends. The group I'm GMing atm I let them pick whatever species they fancied. But if we were in my BRP homebrew setting, it's humans only. There are elves and goblins, but they're outcasts from human society that make up like 95% of the population on the continent. They'd be unplayable.
Question for the GMs out there;

Do you ever restrict the playable races / species for a game or setting? Why?

I mean, I'm sure there are a few cases where you may do that because it's busted, but I'm referring to cases where you have an in world reason for it.

Played Bloc by Bloc instead of D&D, it looked really hairy as riot vans evicted two starting positions early on.

I've had an absolutely lousy morning despite finishing my course.

Monday night D&D is on hold, we're playing board games instead. I really hope we get to play bloc by bloc

I got bitten by a duck as a child trying to feed them.
I then had a vivid dream of mallards with pointy vampire teeth crowding me.
What's your most memorable experience with a wild animal, whether on purpose or by accident?

I'm a bit troubled by the notion that I'll never get to play some of my game books. I've had Mythic Iceland for ages, and I've just never had anyone really interested in it. One major factor is having to teach people new systems. Especially for lore heavy games where the "buy in" is more esoteric.

When I went to see Godzilla 2014, there was a scene near the finale of the film where there is all this cool monster stuff happening, and the action cuts to the boring family for like the third time. I yelled out in the cinema "OH COME ON!"
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Attack of the Clones, when R2D2 grows rockets in the droid factory. A grown man in the row in front shouted, “Go on, Artoo, my son!”.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

What are Dark type pokemon supposed to be? Like, what does that represent? Is it somehow tied to darkness as a platonic concept? Why does Bite get to be a dark attack? What sense does that make?

Here's a question for DMs running boat encounters: Why would the sahuagin ever jump on deck?

I remember a DM running a sahuagin encounter, and we pretty soundly trounced them, but I couldn't help thinking what they were supposed to be achieving.

Went to a little independent shop in Aberdeen for some minis. Guys asks me what I play and I said "5e atm", he says "I'm sorry to hear that". Lol good patter.

Do people on Game of Thrones/ASOIAF meme pages even watch the show or read the books?

Half the people talking on these groups are just plainly incorrect about everything they bring up.

I really don't get why Tarantino is doing this. Seems needlessly aggy.
Daniel Day Lewis came out of Instagram retirement to show support for Paul Dano. King shit.

My Monday D&D session was a bit nerve-wracking. I'd forgotten my mats, and I had prepped about 2/3s of the dungeon I thought they'd go for. Then the party got interested in a different dungeon, which I hadn't prepped, and I am sure they're underlevelled for.

I think a fair bit of RPG discourse mistakes "most players don't care about RPG theory" (true) with "most players don't care about the things that theory is about" (false).

It is fair to say that I have known very few players who actually care about stance theory in the abstract.

I've not been doing a whole lot of painting recently, so this is a bit wonky, but I'm OK with how she turned out.

I'm gonna try and do a bit of painting tonight. I was priming some minis last night, and they look lovely to paint.
