Today at the honk & wave we had 115. Our previous high was 35. I leave it to you to decide if we are at an inflection point. I think so. The reaction by passers by, cyclists, and cars seemed louder and more intense. And a bystander bought doughnut holes for the protesters. So appreciated!

Special Counsel Jack Smith said in testimony before the House Judiciary Committee that he was confident he had “proof beyond a reasonable doubt” in his indictments of Trump in the election interference case & the illegally retained classified documents case.

Five Ways To Remember January 6th
Too many people saw January 6th as the final aggrieved death throes of Trumpism. We can now understand it was the start of something much darker.

First honk & wave of 2026! Are people pissed our faux king is using the military to grift resources of another country for himself & his billionaire buddies? Well, we had 2X usual attendance & an all-time high number of participants. 2026 is going to be so much bigger than 2025. Photo by Ken Barker

A little late, but still required reading.

"Trump is replacing American democracy with a kleptocracy, a system of corruption in which a network of ruling elites use the institutions of government to steal public assets for their own private gain."

“Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has cozied up to Trump for years, turning his back on the communities Apple claims to support, while he donated a million dollars to Trump’s inauguration and millions more to tear down the East Wing and construct Trump’s ballroom.”

I couldn't say it better: "I just loved it. We were so clearly all in it together. The signholders, the drivers, the bicyclists and pedestrians-all so responsive and supportive. My sign said United We Stand. This event fully played out in that spirit. Thank you. I appreciate your efforts deeply."

Our courageous crew took to the streets today and braved a little bit of weather to demonstrate again our opposition to this horrendous regime and provide a visible sign to others that they are not alone.

I am so proud of each and every one of them.

I read this quote from David Byrne which I quite liked, "I’ve found that not every collaboration works, but often when they do, it’s because I’m able to clearly impart what it is I’m trying to do. They hopefully get that, and as a result, we’re now joined together heading to the same unknown place.”

Another wonderful day on the bridge, getting lots of friendly honks and the infrequent finger. :-) Our message was: Vote Out the GOP & Trump Cruelty. It was so energizing, so fun & the weather could not have been better.

Another beautiful Sunday to show up for democracy.

If you haven't gone to a honk & wave, sign up for one in your neighborhood and I guarantee you will have one of the best hours of your week.

NYT wrote about last night's elections, "The results showed that Democrats — beaten soundly in all seven presidential battleground states just a year ago, losing control of the Senate and failing to win the House — can still accomplish the most important goal in politics: They can win. And win big.”
