I write and talk about the NBA, especially the salary cap, CBA and roster construction stuff. I do these things for Spotrac, NBA Front Office Show and The Basketball Bulletin. Any nonsense you see here is from me, not my employers.

It's more about him passing up some looks because of lack of rhythm. I think it was mostly about his minutes being sporadic thus far. But he can certainly shoot. I'd like to see him get regular minutes and to just let it fly. We'll see if he gets there!

I think he'll make it, but he has to shoot more and show the ability to a little bit of something else (passing, ball movement, driving closeouts, some defense, anything) to stick. Shooters can take a few years to really find their place.

The final 2025 NBA restricted free agent is off the board: Taran Armstrong, a two-way RFA from the Warriors, has agreed to a deal with Dubai Basketball.

GSW will continue to hold Armstrong's RFA rights in the NBA this year, and for as long they keep issuing qualifying offers.

It's felt like for a while now that Johnny Juzang could be a guy that eventually found the right spot and was a multi-year bench shooter for a team. Maybe that's now with the Wolves? Sometimes shooters take a few years to figure it out, then they're on rosters for several years.

I'm not sure Andrew Nembhard can be the lead playmaker AND pick up and defend full court. That's asking a lot.

And now TJ McConnell is hurt (hopefully not too serious). All that PG depth, but life comes at you fast sometimes. Opening for Delon Wright to make the roster?

It was Game 1 of the preseason, so we have miles to go, but Larry Nance Jr looked quick and bouncy. If the Cavs can manage him and keep him healthy, he's nice changeup in their frontcourt mix.

Starting with the positives:

I really like Matas Buzelis. Love his energy and activity. He's also figuring out his personal pace on offense.

The defense...ugh. It's a lot of running around without purpose or direction. Needs to harness that purpose on offense for defense too.

The New Orleans Pelicans have signed DJ Carton and Trhae Mitchell to Exhibit 10 contracts.

I don’t get paid to give baseball takes. You get those for free. And you get what you pay for!

In a five-game series, that’s all you really need.

There are sweeps and then there are sweeeeps.

This is the latter. Complete domination by the Blue Jays.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr is just as terrifying as his dad was. Maybe even more.

I thought of another one and it was something my family ate all the time: California Chicken Pie.

It was made with tuna (not chicken), a ton of mixed can veggies, some kind of cream soup (probably cream of chicken) and the top crust was crushed and whole Ritz crackers.

Anyone else eat this one?

Fair, but I think I prefer this vs more real estate on the screen being given to the scorebug.
keithsmithnba.bsky.social
On the flip side: I can already tell the Peacock and Amazon games will get second-screen status a lot. It's simply too hard to flip back and forth between games.
keithsmithnba.bsky.social
Not sure if Peacock and NBC will use the same scorebug, but I like this one on Peacock. Clean. Has all the information you need. I like the team colors matching the uniforms. That's a good pull over from the NBC Premier League coverage.

It’s been a while since the replies to a post have brought me so much joy.

For me, to the shock of no one I’m sure, it’s putting mayo on bread to sop up and collect whatever form of gravy or sauce is left on the plate. I don’t do it often anymore, but it’s always a joy when I do!

I'd like to see Jalen Crutcher get Orlando's third two-way spot. He's had a really productive run in the G League. Magic can use an additional ballhandler early in the season for depth, as they work Jalen Suggs back in.
