Good to hear! As someone who’s both anti-AI and strongly opinionated about text editors, the idea of getting an F on a paper in this scenario instantly filled me with anxiety, and I haven’t had to write a college paper in nearly 30 years. But if the student confessed when called out, then all good.

I’d caution against using this as evidence. I loathe writing in Google Docs, and if I ever need to use it for some reason, I write in another program and paste text in. You could easily be punishing someone for having strong opinions about text editors.

Confabulation. A dementia patient will make things up to fill in holes in their memory, and they don’t even realize they’re doing it. It’s one of the most obvious symptoms of dementia, but when you’re dealing with sometime who’s lied constantly and reflexively their whole life, it’s easy to miss.

I wish we lived in a world where you didn’t feel the need to deny yourself a cozy and uneventful retirement. But given the state of the world we’re living in, I’m incredibly grateful for the work you do.
