I wrote about a similar measure introduced by a county councilman a few years ago. It failed amid free speech concerns. Now another councilman is trying again though a federal judge struck down St. Louis County's panhandling laws in 2021. www.stltoday.com/news/local/g...

I set out to determine how far our local sewer district has come in cleaning up our local waterways. 💩🚫💧 It has done a ton of work, but even after $7 billion in spending, the region's massive network of pipes will still spew untreated sewage into our area rivers. www.stltoday.com/news/local/g...
St. Louis area is spending billions to clean rivers. It'll still dump sewage in them.
The Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District has spent $3.2 billion and capped more than 100 overflow pipes, about half the work required by a federal settlement.

Good opportunity here to shift to using your local grocer's bulk section. Local Harvest in Tower Grove South has a bunch of products in bulk (maple syrup, olive oil, rice) and provides reusable containers. Any other places I should know about?? www.stltoday.com/news/local/g...
St. Louis ends alley recycling. Mayor says it's not working.
The city says that before alley collection was suspended in June, half of blue-bin contents went to the landfill.

"The district's long-term plans also do not address if/when the district will discontinue its deficit spending and use of budget reserves to meet planned expenditures." By FY 2031, the district will "not have sufficient funds to complete the school year."

Me & @kirkman.bsky.social spent months looking into a new firm called Truehold, now one of the largest real estate investors in #STL.

Its biz model: Buys houses & offers to lease them back to sellers. It's a strategy that's faced scrutiny when used by other firms

Firm buys 700 homes in St. Louis area with unusual offer of ‘easy’ cash
“Join the thousands of people who have unlocked their home equity with Truehold,” said one letter sent to homeowners.

There is a lot of talk, post-tornado, about what will happen to St. Louis brick from heavily damaged homes. A few years ago reporter Jesse Bogan and I took a deep look at that brick - how it's harvested, what it's worth and where it ends up. www.stltoday.com/news/local/m...
Brick by brick: A St. Louis home comes down, leaving memories — and another empty lot
The bungalow on Louisiana Avenue stood for 93 years, but couldn't escape the 'march of time' in a city that's seen better days.
