Since we're talking about contractors on video games, I thought I'd point out the importance of contractors/freelancers in TTRPGs as well. I'm using the award-winning Tian Xia World Guide as an example. The entire paragraph of authors are freelancers. Without them, the book wouldn't exist. 🧵

For Labor Day, I wanted to talk about the success of Paizo's unionization. We formed United Paizo Workers in October 2021, won voluntary recognition, and ratified our first contract in 2023. This happened because of solidarity, good union training from CWA, and empowerment of the workers.

Can’t even claim to have been doing anything cool, like skiing or diving in front of a car to save a small child. Literally two steps down. A fall you’d be expect to go “oh shit” and have some bruises or maybe a sprained ankle. But nope. Fractured tibia + fibula for me. 😭
