GenX, Canadian, Homebody, foul-mouthed. Stoner. Green Arrow is my politics. Mostly post the comic books I'm reading.
I'm not normally one for the fancy shit, but I just got the fanciest book I own and I love it!

The hard cover feels like leather. It's got a sewn binding and even a fancy ribbon bookmark! The pages are so nice!

As it's the holiday season, I've decided to only watch xmas movies.

This afternoons movie was Prison-A-Go-Go! (2003), a low budget campy women in prison spoof trash comedy.

I liked it for what it was but even at 85 mins it felt long. This kind of dumb humour needs to be as short as possible.

Every time I watch Feast (2005), I seem to stumble upon it on a list and then just watch. Like when you'd be channel surfing and always stop to certain flicks.

It's a super gory brutal monster siege movie set in a bar. The tone is like Tremors but more mean. Dogs Soldiers but MUCH gorier.

Tonight I knocked Wolf Guy (1975) off my list

Sonny Chiba in a trenchcoat being badass. The story is batshit. Don't scrutinize it and just go with the movie. It's sleazy and fucked up but its never boring!

The Thing 14

W: M. Carlin
A: R. Wilson

Ben leads an alien airforce to help defend them from a rival.

My review: I wonder if I would've picked up on all the clues being dropped back in the day? Probably not.

The Thing 13

W: J. Byrne
A: R. Wilson

Ben learns the history of the barbarian lady's village, but it can't possibly be true...

My review: I so wish I could've been reading this during Secret Wars. The questions I would've had! This comic just keeps bringing back great memories.

The Thing 12

W: J. Byrne
A: R. Wilson

Ben befriends a barbarian lady and discovers Doomstadt is on Battleworld?!?

My review: I love how this is set after Secret Wars but spoils nothing. Anything goes on Battleworld, and it's so fun.

The Thing 11

W: J. Byrne
A: R. Wilson

While on Battleworld, Ben's transport device is stolen.

My review: The little boy in me is so happy to be reading this. I was around 12, loved Marvel, especially the Thing, but the comics never came here! It's almost a relief that I'm finally reading it! 😁

The Thing 10

W: J. Byrne
A: R. Wilson

Ben & Alicia discuss their relationship. A strange energy reading emanates from Central Park.

My review: Oh man, I'm getting hit with huge nostalgia. I was so into Marvel at this time. Secret Wars really worked on me, especially what happened with the Thing.

The Thing 9

W: J. Byrne
A: R. Wilson

The soul of an Egyptian slave takes control of Ben's body.

My review: Comics don't have this kind of melodrama anymore. When I think Marvel comic art, it's this. This is the standard for me.

New daily read

The Thing 8

W: J. Byrne
A: R. Wilson

A depressed Ben visits Alicia in hospital. The janitor happens to be a 4000 year old Egyptian wizard.

My review: I'm glad modern Ben is happy. This story idea is really good.

The Terrifics 30

W: G.L. Yang
A: S. Segovia

Final issue.

My review: Up til the last 3 issues, this was a fantastic series. I liked it enough to buy the compendium and having now finished, I've no regrets. I'm glad to have this on my shelf.

The Terrifics 29

W: G.L. Yang
A: M. Raynor

Staggs long lost son returns to steal the company and kill the Terrifics.

My review: This is clumsy. It doesn't look like we'll be going out on top.

The Terrifics 28

W: G.L. Yang
A: S. Davila

Simon Staggs life hangs by a thread. Meanwhile, the Parasite attacks Terrifictech's technology show.

My review: This issue is a little more silly than weird. Didn't really enjoy it much. The stuff with Stagg is good, though.

The Terrifics 27

W: G.L. Yang
A: S. Davila

The T- Council come to help the team. Silas Stone is a dick.

My review: Saw a pandemic era ad this issue and I'm wondering if that's what killed the book. It's not winding down at all. Still really fun.

The Terrifics 26

W: G.L. Yang
A: S. Davila

Simon Stagg has cancer and is scheming to make himself immortal. His cowardice might cost Plasticman his son.

My review: Another great cover. Bummed the run is almost finished.

The Terrifics 25

W: G.L. Yang
A: D. Mora

This issue is a choose your own adventure style book.

My review: Pretty art. This gimmick aint my bag and works like shit on digital. I skipped this.

The Terrifics 24

W: G.L. Yang
A: S. Davila

The teams arrive at the heat death of the universe where they reunite with the Noosphere. Ms. T is now a sexy badass angel.

My review: This is like a really clever cartoon. Fun nonsense.

The Terrifics 23

W: G.L. Yang
A: S. Segovia

Mr & Ms. T try to figure a way out of Bizarros time loop.

My review: Not the biggest fan of time loop stuff. It was fine, but I'm glad it's only for the one issue.
