@kenraves.bsky.social
I am a thirty-two year old.

I'm trying to use social media, and by extension computers & phones less. It's a work in progress.
Going to try and keep the shenanigans here to a minimum.
Most posts here are just going to be copy & pasted from Twitter.

If there’s less reactivity in DATV, I’m unsurprised. Continuing choice from up to 3 games earlier is… unsupportable. Yet DA established the expectation they would so… damned if you do, damned if you don’t?

Saw it again in IMAX 'fore I hit the road a few days.
Really enjoyed it. Will post some thoughts later when I'm not driving.

Also I don't like the cover for Way of Water on the steelbook. It's made to be paired with the re-release of the first movie, and presumably the release of 3, but I dunno. It's just more generic to me? Less vibes.

Then again part of me may be projecting a bit.
My first love is religious, but certainly broke some traditions they believe in when dating me.
That was a choice made, because; love is a powerful emotion.

But like her relationship with Jake is made based on her free-will as an individual, not 'cause Eywa sent a sky-jelly in any way that could be interpreted as "YOU SHOULD FUCK THIS GUY."
I just think that's really interesting.

It isn't clearly stated out loud, but I like to interpret Neytiri's choice to be a result of recognizing that her goddess chose Jake be spared in that moment.
Like: her goddess chose Jake, and that made him special. She fucked a monster she hated 'cause he was literally chosen.
December 25, 2025 at 10:28 PM
Neytiri chooses not to kill Jake, because; one of these creatures landed on her arrow before she shot him.
She then broke her betrothal, and customs that we know she respects that are important to her people by forming a relationship with Jake.

In the first film we're told they're like. Representative of the spirits of the deceased, and are sacred fauna that represent the will of her people's goddess (a figure we know canonically is alive 'cause of the nature of Pandora's hive-mind biome).

There's an argument at one point between "The Sullys," and I kept wanting Jake to be like "honey! You are a MONSTER FUCKER! YOU FUCKED A MONSTER, HAD MONSTER-HALF CHILDREN! ACCEPT MONSTERS CAN EXIST TOO!!"
It made me think about the sky-fish, and like. Their role in the story.
December 25, 2025 at 10:28 PM
So something interesting to me is the little sky-fish things from the Prologue are visibly in the sequel, but they were actually important in 3.
I hope someday that James talks about the film's ideas, and how they've evolved in relation to hype & new writers.

I still wish Cameron had made Alita: Battle Angel. Producing just wasn't the same.
I'll talk more about this shit later, but I thought I'd post my two cents on the movie.
December 25, 2025 at 10:28 PM
I dunno man. I'm sad James Cameron has to work on Terminator again 'cause honestly I want that franchise to be allowed to die, and be left alone. I'm totally gonna be there for Avatar 4 in 2031, and Avatar 5 in 2035.

If you've read Ender's Game, and Speaker for the Dead: you're goin' to fuckin' love the first trilogy of Avatar movies.
OMFG that bit where the news ticker said "WE GOT 'IM," like it's so funny to me the apostrophe was there.
A lady in the crowd in the movie had just said it too.
December 25, 2025 at 10:28 PM
It's like this movie isn't going to do anything to convince anyone who finds their existence racist as hell, but the thing is: it isn't like BioShock Infinite where the accidental moral of the story & perspective of the protags is "racism is more tolerable than violence."
