In the course of five months, I've gone from building my first app using AI (Loveable) and then a couple more in Claude Code. And I now have my own LLM running on my laptop. Very slowly and it's not too bright (yet), but there is nowhere to go but up 😁

Someone recommended Tolgee for developing a multi-Polynesian-language app translation system. It looked good until I saw the price 💰😱 Two evenings later I have an home-spun translation maintenance system that handles eight different languages, and you can view and edit any three at a time.

I've wanted to write a book called "Just Enough Music Theory for Hawaiian Musicians" for years. I decided to make it app instead so people could use it as I developed it. It's not ready for sharing yet as it needs more meat. But it is getting there. And it will be bilingual at birth.

It's not an ideal solution, but it seems to be the only one that will work in Chromebook for both binary apps and in Google Suites. More testing to follow but this appears to be solid. No Chromebook Hawaiian keyboard that works like our MacOS and Windows ones until I can get through to Chome folks.

New day, new features. The old, cluttered keyboard with separate keys for house with and without kahakō/tohutō gone, replaced with a system level press, hold, and drag your finger option. Much cleaner. Also locked the window so that it doesn't move when the player drags their finger.

Is the world ready for the mega, six letter version of this in te reo Māori, ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, and other Reo Moana (eventually)? It really doesn't matter if it's ready for it or not, it's coming 😎 you'll still be able to play the classic five letter version, too.

A few days ago, I posted "I'm sold on Claude for programming, at least so far." That's over. Claude Code from the command line terminal destroys Claude on the web so badly it's not even funny. It's fixing in seconds things that ChatGPT couldn't fix at all, and that took hours via Claude on the web.

Another day, another tweak. I was tired of looking at such a boring screen.

I'm sold on Claude for programming, at least so far. It helped me enhance my Hawaiian w**dle-like game, it now loads multiple word lists and interface languages, and enables 5 or six letter lists. Also cleaned up the Copilot/ChatGPT code and created a one-step process for adding languages.🤓

I also added a Tahitian word list. I'm trying to find someone to help verify the orthography of the list I have (it's from a 50 y/o text). The mechanism works, but only I get to play with it for now. 😆

Last time I saw Kekuhi was in T.J. Maxx in Hilo late last year. Just saw her in "Chief of War" as Keōua's makuahine. Great casting! Though I seriously doubt she is old enough to be Cliff Curtis' mother 😉

The more I use ChatGPT for my projects, the more I wonder how I did without it. No more editing translations in JSON structures. GPT exports those in clean and easy-to-edit text files, each language's translation appearing sequentially. When I'm done editing, it converts that text back to a JSON. 🧨

I'm getting a pretty good at this, solved four puzzles in a row. Still playing whack-a-bug with a few features but still it's coming along nicely. I need to find someone who can help review and edit my Māori interface translation because I'm not that good (yet). 😁

My daughter left a fish tank behind when she moved to a new place recently. It only had two fish - both neon tetras. One day I noticed one flopping on the bottom without its pelvic fins. It died a few days later. I posthumously named it "Roy." I named the remaining fish… wait for it… "Kilroy." 🥁 😆

I've been working on a new "Word Finder" game but using ‘ōlelo Hawai‘i instead of English. Once I have it wrapped up I'll consider a te reo Māori version. Anyone know if one already exists? The word length and number of words is currently restricted for testing,
