I’m back to stitching reversible, reusable Christmas cracker crowns (mat leave budget Christmas presents…) very happy that the star on the green Christmas tree is not cut off!

I’ve started my next sewing project! I’m attempting to make another pair of billowy baby trousers, in more fabric I picked up at the fabric swap the other day.

Christmas cracker crowns - Christmas presents for family - are on hold, because I’ve ran out of padding / batting.

I went outside! And drew on a window with a pal!

As you can see with the spool in my hand - some threads are smoke damaged. My uncle had a house fire in the 00s, so he finally had to clear out my aunt’s possessions, which he couldn’t face doing in the 90s (she died rather young). I am delighted to be putting her threads into use 30+ years later!

Baby’s nap time = sewing! I *should* do tidying or something, but I’m starting to go a bit crazy, and need a creative outlet! I’m making Christmas cracker crowns. My aunt Mary’s sewing box stash has some close thread colour matches. Or at least, on the surface they are a close match…

I think they will fit in around 12-18 months 🐚 😆

These two are on wooden spools!

The kids are asleep so I am uncoiling. Making the smaller bab some trousers from material I got at my fabric swap! I don’t have a matching thread but have plenty close enough thanks to my aunt Mary’s vintage stash.

I’ve somehow got myself into the hand pillow trap with my second child too.

Really nice to catch up with friends at the fabric swap I organised at my coworking space. Quite an elaborate way to fuel my latest hobby, orchestrating a community event so I can boost my fabric stash - but look what I picked up!!

Volunteered to weed the planters at my son’s primary school today. As well as digging up weeds - we dug up two eggs! Thanks Stirchley foxes 🦊

First time I’ve ever been in a bathroom that is twinned with another one (Cotteridge Quaker Centre)

I am going to tweak the bib pattern, as it’s not a good fit. Still, very cute!

Ta-daaaa!
October 21, 2025 at 7:25 PM
Hopefully the kids stay asleep long enough for me to follow along a YouTube video on putting poppers on fabric! I’m making bibs.

Today was mostly spent eating chocs and giving out flyers while one pal played with my son and another held my daughter.

I’m making a bib for my daughter from my son’s old t-shirt that got ripped at nursery. Imperfect and unfinished for today, but I am really enjoying the 15 mins switch off for sewing after the kids are asleep and the house has been reset.

Ta-da! Erin posing like they own the joint 😆

While the kids are asleep (miracle), Phil’s out at a community meeting and I’ve sewn a Batman crown 👑
