There are two potential end games for US involvement in Iran: (1) destroy nuclear capacity (2) regime change. …If it’s (1), then we are done, right? If it’s (2), then God help us because we’ve been down that road and know where it ends.

I wrote this post and this poem thinking about times of personal transition and disruption. But I wonder if the same truth might apply to society. What does the Voice of God say about times like this?

Why is it so hard to find a list of all the federal grants awarded to Harvard in 2024? I’ve done a lot of searching. Even checked USAspending.gov …it shows other universities but not Harvard?

I realize that to many of my friends, the story of Jesus you will hear this time of year sounds a bit like a fairy tale - lovely but hard to believe. If you are pragmatically evaluating the ideas of Christianity, I would recommend the following books:

At some point in the past month I picked up the habit of waving bye at the end of zoom calls, and now I cannot stop. Help. I don't want to be a shrimp boat captain.

One outcome of #ukraine drama will be world finding out it’s much less dependent on the US than previously thought. Over the long term, this means more $ stay at home in the U.S., but it also means we have less influence abroad. Maybe not a bad trade off, but one we should be mindful of.

Crisis of Certainty: Our Obsession With Being Right Is Holding Us Back
“The only true wisdom is knowing you know nothing” -Socrates (or possibly Plato) (1)Ancient Greece was a sophisticated society, with great thinkers, a wide array of religious beliefs, and a lot of disagreements. The stoics, cynics and epicureans all conflicted with common religious beliefs, and each other, in various ways (2).  Presiding over this debate and tension was the Aereopagus.
