I love those little tree frogs, I often hear them in the back yard, but rarely see them. Although I did find one hiding in one of my lettuces last summer.

I jumped in & took over whisking in a frightening amount of chilled butter & it turned out well. Although I added the amount of lemon juice the recipe called for & it was a bit much. Should have added less & tasted. Sauce quantity was OTT as well, but that’s a problem I can live with. 😂

Finished off my preserved lemons, which were salted a week ago. We’ll see if they’re any good in about a month. The preserves from last season have mostly been used, but we still have a decent supply of pickles, relish, tomato puree & more. No doubt I’ll be back on my pickling spree around Jan/Feb.👩🍳

Currently spending a night at a motel that has not been renovated since the early 80s. No way are we getting in that spa. 😱 The pelicans seem a bit whimsical, a stark contrast to the horror movie vibe the entire room gives off. 😅

😤 It’s there, but not strong enough to overcome a bit of light pollution. Also I should have charged my camera & dragged out the tripod, the phones cutting it. #1 is directly south, #2 is ESE.

Every year the kids ask me what I’d like for birthday/christmas gifts & I always scratch my head & say 🤷♀️. Now I make an effort to notice when I see something I like but think is frivolous & text one of them to ask for it. So far DIL #2 is buying me these gorgeous cocktail picks.

Did some pruning and ended up with a pile of herbs we won’t be able to use, so I’ve put them out on the letterbox with a “free” sign. Hopefully the regular dog walkers along our street will help themselves, I hate to throw perfectly good produce in the green bin.

I sowed broccoli & beetroot seed and planted more lettuce seedlings. You can’t have too much lettuce over summer. Never icebergs though, they all mature at once & I struggle to use them. I have cos & mignonette, much better for home gardeners.

Finally started Christmas shopping & found these gorgeous books for eldest granddaughter. 😍 She’s always asking “what’s that bird?” when we’re at the park, but she’s a bit young for a field guide.

It was bloody excellent, even if the sauce split. Husband was mortified, I just scooped it into my gob with a fork because it tasted fucking amazing & also only one hand working. 🤷♀️

Granddaughter’s birthday party this morning, we had a full on bay animal farm(!) and a yard full of toddlers on a sugar high. Luckily there was wine for the grownups.
