In a new lawsuit filed against Trump by state AGs, a family with a trans kid shares she died by suicide last month citing fears Trump would deny her access to gender-affirming care. "Her parents have expressed fear...that what happened to their daughter does not happen to other children."

Elon Musk is not a Federal employee or a political appointee. DOGE is not a real department. None of their activities are legal. This is a coup. The Republicans in Congress are willing participants in it. At what point do Democrats in DC get that and start acting like it? It’s not the price of eggs!

It's truly bizarre how Congressional R's have abdicated their role to Elon Musk and some 8chan dorks. Guys like Thune and Johnson spend their whole lives grabbing for the power they have, and they're just letting DOGE take it from them. If Musk told the House to go home, would the GOP agree?
We all like to yell at the Democrats, but it’s really Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune who are letting Elon Musk and his faceless goon squad make a mockery of their power as leaders of a coequal branch without uttering a peep or lifting a finger.

I asked Elon’s Grok 2 the question of whether and how you could destroy the country through insane trade wars and hijacking Treasury’s payment system.

And I must say, what I got back seems to be a fairly good analysis.

No one should be discriminated against based on their sex. It’s long past time for women’s equal rights to be recognized in our Constitution.

Over on Twitter, the right wing pushed a “study” claiming 96.5% CA jobs created between Jan 2022 & June 2024 were government jobs.

After a thorough debunking by @hiltzikm.bsky.social, that “study” has been retracted.

Why?

CA actually gained 523,000 private sector jobs (not the 5,400 they claimed)

Housing costs are a huge driver of voting discontent. Every city and state should be building more housing but for Democrats, this is also a matter of political survival.

Time for citizens in North Carolina to oppose - and be heard about - this attempted democracy destruction.

Citizen power is always underestimated. But history teaches us that if the people of North Carolina get engaged - and stay committed - this heinous Republican effort can be stopped.

Do it.
In lame duck session North Carolina Republicans trying to steal power. Typical - they simply don’t respect the will of the people they claim to represent. For them it’s always about the acquisition and retention of power-however illegitimate the means.

We need to remember none of these nominees are a done deal. Despair is the enemy.
Article from 2019 showing Stephen Moore as sexist with a terrible record as an economist. This forced him to withdraw as a Trump nominee for FRB back then, but now he is in the transition team and getting front page coverage in the Times to spout nonsense on US trade deal.
Stephen Moore, a conservative commentator whom President Donald Trump had tapped for the Federal Reserve board, withdrew from consideration Thursday after losing Republican support in the Senate, largely over his past inflammatory writings about women. (2019)
