The thing that I never prepared for as an artist is having a market in which people desire what you do, will make money off of what you do! But do not want to pay for it, and will try to convince you that bad pay that would bankrupt a person for every job is normal and fine right now

Thank you! ☺️

For #portfolioday here is a triptych of "tiny town" illustrations showing off what I love doing right now: vibrant colors, lots of detail, and fun easter eggs for all kinds of art, anime, and history nerds :')
A colorful, digital, graphic line-art style illustration of a miniature fantasy island made up of hills on stone cliffs under a large Ancient Greek-looking temple. Around the island at different points are non-realistically sized and different representations of Greek pottery, a Trojan Horse and mythical Bull sculpture, and small representations of the Mongolian “Deer Stones.” There are many different animal/mythical iconography decorations from the Scytho-Siberian visual culture. Standing on the island are two nude bathing woman based on Ancient Greco-Roman statue forms. Watching them is a fantastical woman with black eagle wings standing next to a unicorn. She is dressed like the famous Siberian Ice Princess mummy, of the Scythian culture. Jumping in the air above everyone are two modern teenage girls (implied to be descendants of the other people in the illustration) playing basketball. In the middle temple, a strange feline-tiger creature with a bronze-mask head peers out, guarding an inner inventory of hold pottery and golden objects. A vibrantly-colorful illustration of a highly detailed, miniature enclosed world. There are various magical-girl-style costumed femme figures who are posed and moving within a blocky, art-nouveau architecture inspired landscape colored in teal, purple, brass and silver. The scene does not follow standard linear perspective but has a flattend, isometric-abstract perspective (so figures like a mysterious woman observing out from a window in the top left are much larger than the women and girls in front of her. There are 3 central main-character girls in middle ground (color-themed in cyan, yellow and red) who are posed with their magical weapons/tools, such as a fan, sword, and moon staff, and are accompanied by their blocky magical support creatures (I imagine acting like stands or pokemon?). The top yellow-sword girl has pink hair, and appears related to the mysterious aforementioned window-woman. At left is an older magical-woman (the older sister of the cyan-moon girl?) raising a staff emitting ray of light that inverts the colors of the world in it’s path, which is shining on a moody, crouched girl who also has pink hair at the bottom right. Above the crouched girl is another professionally demure, office-dressed woman with hands clasped in prayer (the older sister of the red fan girl?). The humans are diverse and are imagined in a variety of black, brown and white skin tones. Below everyone a black-colored axolotl serpent decorated with stars and sparkles slithers through the landscape and splashes into water, and tagging along is its baby serpent. Many parts of the landscape are decorated with intricate tile work and stained glass pattern elements. Different blocks, piping and wires flow in and out of the different buildings, while two large sails are set in the top right background, above which floats a large, founder like fished decorated with a flower tile pattern. A super detailed digital illustration showing an interior courtyard scene based off of the architecture of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum’s courtyard arches and ornament, broken up into different sections arranged in non-linear and isometric perspective (sort of in the tradition of Persian and SE Asian miniature painting). Various femme human figures of different sizes and colors (natural white and brown skin tones but also colored blue and red) are scattered around this space- they are all based off of women from different paintings within the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Gardner Museum (including John Singer Sargent’s El Jaleo, who here is dressed in a way that references the character design of Jolyne Cujoh). In the bottom left, electric blue tigers race under arches in a starry-void space. At the top right, a mysterious woman stands under a painting with aa living parrot, and next to an another parrot on a chair. She is standing upon a coil of thread that weaves throughout the painting, and terminates in a box at bottom left which is guarded by a fancily dressed woman in parrot couture costume, in a miniature “room” with different paintings of other woman, and a mirror that reflects a color field of pink, blue and white. A pink nude woman is seated above on a fabric drape that flows down from a red woman above her who is holding a flower looking out from an ornamented arch. At center is a large blue woman who is smelling a stand of roses, while below her is a smaller ballerina doing up her flats on marble stairs.
