Jayce’s countdown to the conflict at the Hexgate. Bookmarker’s Notes Read this fic. You’re welcome. Haha but real talk? This fic is phenomenal. The premise: Jayce has a series of flashbacks from the moment he shoots Viktor until the moment they meet for the last time under the Hexgates. An exploration of memory, of regret, of fate and free will. Kettle’s prose is all at once richly layered and ruthlessly efficient; breathtaking and agile and imbued with an understanding of these characters so bone-deep it feels like trespassing. I honestly consider this fic to be a prose poem (the poem it draws inspiration from is devastating, a must-read after you read this), and a testament to fanfiction’s greatest strengths as a medium. One of the best in the fandom, full stop. This fic is it for me. PLEASE GO READ IT I’M BEGGING YOU.

Cuties tangled in a tight space
