People wanting to walk or cycle between Thame and the station at Haddenham are currently forced to choose a dangerous road or a muddy path.
Please support this petition to give them a safe and viable option.

Had to refer to the manual for this! I use walking and cycling modes, but there are also skating, skiing and cross country skiing modes.

The excellent The Rest Is Entertainment podcast revealed this week that a musician or band would need to get 560,000 streams on Spotify to earn minimum wage (not including costs). They point out that is Alison Moyet’s level of streaming popularity

How on earth do new bands make it now?!

Happy Birthday to Kate, one of our Campaigns and Policy Leads.

And we can't think of a better way of celebrating all the incredible work she does, than by sharing her cycle story!

Kate Ball sat on a tandem cycle. She is a white woman with brown hair and is wearing a white cycling helmet, a blue jacket, dark blue skirt with white flowers and blue trainers. The bike has an orange bag at the front. In the background is a tree with white flowers, a road, and a car opposite parked in a driveway.

It’s a Brompton so v low crossbar but I’m still adept enough to swing the leg over the back of the saddle. The other strut there is the walking stick. Thin thigh tube means it doesn’t get in the way when riding :o)

This animation on Highpath Engineering’s site, the manufacturer of this crank, shows how it works. Made for people with limited movement in the knee joint, and in my case the hip joint too: highpath.co.uk/pulse-swing-...
Pulse Swing Cranks from Highpath Engineering
Pulse Swing Cranks for when one of your knees doesn’t bend as much as it should. It enables your leg to contribute as much effort as it can to cycling.

Got the cycling mode working on the new leg so brought the swinging crank out of retirement…

The toilets to be closed cost between £2,600 (Charlbury) and £45,530 (Woodstock) to run each year. Several of the toilets are sited near car parks, where WODC offers free parking at an annual subsidy of around £0.5m.

Our Guide to Inclusive Cycling is cited in New Zealand’s "Accessible cycling infrastructure design guidance note" referencing us an international benchmark!

We’re thrilled our work is influencing policy & standards elsewhere, and look out for launch of the 5th edition of the Guide this September.
Image of the front cover of the Accessible cycling infrastructure design guidance note. There is a picture of a black woman smiling wearing a blue top and a white helmet on a blue tricycle. She is on a road with white dashed lines down the middle and greenery to either side. Underneath there is text saying 'Accessible cycling infrastructure. Design guide note NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi. 13 March 2024. Draft. At the bottom are the logos for Waka Kotahi and the New Zealand government

Now there’s something ‘tech’ hasn’t managed to improve upon - when you view a gorgeous vista but your camera flattens it out to nowt.

Photos like these are really important for helping to raise awareness of our services and showing funders why we are worth supporting.

Let's make inclusive cycling visible!

Easy to miss, but important. At @wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk we've been working towards this moment for years - the DfT has publicly announced that it is looking at sorting out mobility aid laws. 🎉 Our #MyCycleMyMobilityAid campaign looks like it is paying off.
Screenshot of a tweet from Simon Lightwood MP. Jul 21.
"Everyone deserves safe, accessible transport.
That’s why we’re extending e-scooter trials to 2028 and expanding them to new towns to learn how best to regulate them.
We’re also looking at our mobility aid laws so disabled people can use the devices they need for independence." Accompanied with a photo, the alt text for which was "Hire escooters parked in a line in a designated parking area", image attribution Department for Transport.
