I will not be tolerated. My life is international politics, travel, & @KelsaPellettiere.com. Some call me a “recovering libertarian,” but I’m more like a functioning libertarian. I voted against myself one time.

Bubba the Christmas hippopotamus is here to celebrate Thanksgiving.

You can tell it’s Thanksgiving week in American TV news.

This looks like an AI interpretation of the Obama presidential portrait.

Clay Higgins of all people was the only no vote today, and I’m trying really hard to come up with a reason to disagree with him - because he’s normally absolutely crazy.

I want the facts, no matter who was involved, to come out. But bypassing the rule of law is not how we do it.

The press secretary posted this like it’s something to be proud of and not a huge destructive consequence that will permanently scar and depress our economy.

As you’d expect, he blames the lack of religion, families, the Left, “material impoverishment,” (which is horseshit of course but even people on here push this idea constantly). But more importantly is that JD Vance doesn’t seem to be all that worried about it!

Meanwhile in Louisiana, where the state had a bunch of local tax referendums last night, a local sheriff department covering Hammond (where I lived for years) posted this.

The Coalition dropped this very odd ad on Facebook, days after dropping their commitment to net zero emissions.

Worth noting that in the 20 years they are taking credit for they only governed for about half of that (05-07, 13-22).

I don’t watch daytime CNN all that often but I’m working in my home office today and they have a tweet/text “thread” on the side of the screen. That’s very early 2010s.

And yes I am watching all four hours of the 1983 Australian miniseries that dramatized the events of that day, “The Dismissal,” in commemoration.

My wife hasn’t walked in to find this out yet, but I’m sure she’ll be delighted when she does.

Statement from the Mississippi Democrats on tonight’s special election results
November 5, 2025 at 6:23 AM
Two Republican seats in the Mississippi Senate that are heavily competitive, one Dems are in the lead, other they are close.

Decision Desk calls NJ gov race for the Dems, a rare third term win and dashing the hopes of the GOP for a state pick up tonight.
November 5, 2025 at 1:19 AM
Happy Election Day. No voting here - but part of Mississippi does have special elections for new state House maps due to a court order. Expectation is at least one Dem gain, and the party’s goal is to break the GOP supermajority in the House.
November 4, 2025 at 7:46 PM
What became the ACA is actually to the *right* of the McCain-Palin health reform plan. In 2008, the GOP was proposing not just premium subsidies but also a multi-state public option for otherwise uninsurable Americans!
November 2, 2025 at 6:52 PM
This photo was on the Politico story about the VA gov race, and I will say I approve of the fact that at least both nominees have the right colors for their party on the signs!

I can’t stand a blue GOP sign or a red Dem sign. Use your brands!

It’s not the worst thing the Trump Administration has done, but the post-event traffic I encountered driving from my office to my house (on the other side of the campus) was not fun.

More from the ongoing No Kings in Oxford, Mississippi. No one can tell me if I’m supposed to receive my George Soros money as a check or direct deposit, but otherwise great turnout.

How you know you’re at a No Kings rally in Mississippi
October 18, 2025 at 4:13 PM
I remember back in 2019 a NRCC staffer called me, publicly, a misogynist because of my criticism of their tweet calling a Dem candidate a fake nurse. If I had done this in 2015, in a much less public-facing role, I would have been fired so fast. It’s amazing how quickly the party unmasked itself.

TFL posted a YouTube short of a first run 99 Beetle owned *by VW* as a commemorative vehicle and… the headliner is falling down. Classic.

New Orleans city councilor Helena Moreno projected to avoid a runoff and win the race to become mayor outright tonight, currently at 55% with most precincts in. She has been the front runner all campaign long and backed by much of the city’s business community and former mayor Landrieu.
