Circa 1971 or so. I grew up with my own beach as part of a solidly middle-class family. It’s hard to imagine today. This is Maggie, our Irish Setter. Behind us is a cool piece of driftwood my mom insisted we bring with us when we moved to Virginia. The old dock was wrecked during hurricane Agnes.

An off-duty ICE agent threatened a random Hispanic teenager with a gun as he was driving. He pulled him from the vehicle and started to demand that he prove he was here legally. THE ICE AGENT WAS ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT. Pretty much the same assaults we're seeing every day

A WGN producer was among the people taken, allegedly because she was among a group of bystanders who tried to intervene. ICE agents hit this car while making their getaway.

Every year on Memorial Day, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring.
They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died.
