Ooh, I do like the idea of just taking every can't-bike-because-canada excuse and simply swapping it out:

"Driving!? In Canada? But it's too big and spread out! Maybe in a more compact European situation. Impractical and expensive! Our cities were designed in the era of railroads and streetcars!"

I did not know this.

Emily Dickinson is shaking.

Well, that doesn't need new expensive toys as much.

Harry Wormwood, is that you?

How was Guam?

No thank you.

(Yes, of course because of the rebate, those making decent environmental choices probably got more back than they paid)

We infamously turned boats away in 39.

Apparently we didn't learn anything.

It's hard to claim that you want them to stop while simultaneously handing them a check for 3 billion dollars.
April 22, 2025 at 7:55 PM
Yes, that was her wishlist, but she didn't have a tangible way to make it happen because, like Biden, she was unwilling to stop directly funding Israel as a bargaining chip to make that happen.
April 22, 2025 at 7:53 PM
I feel like you're really determined to take out your frustrations with the Dems losing on someone or something easily identified.

What do you want me to say here? That Harris ran a perfect campaign? That there is some minority that you can confidently blame?
April 22, 2025 at 7:45 PM
I think that's fair, but surely you must agree that Harris taking a more tangible stance against Isreal's actions would have made it a lot easier for those people with moral objections.
April 22, 2025 at 7:42 PM
Well the lesser-of-two-evils narrative came out of Harris/Biden's continued support of Israel. Votes were lost there (probably not enough that it changed the outcome).

And again, I agree with you that Harris was the better option, but alas she didn't excite voters to actually go to the polls.
April 22, 2025 at 7:19 PM
Canadian, but would have voted for Harris regardless of her somewhat limp platform

I actually don't agree with the splinter of won't-vote-for-the-lesser-evil leftists

However to blame them for the loss instead of directing that energy at the party's actual campaign faults is a waste of energy, imo
April 22, 2025 at 6:30 PM
So you agree that the leftists-who-didn't-vote aren't the significant reason why the Dems lost, that's great!

Did Kamala's "I'm going to do things exactly like Biden would do things, and the status quo is great, actually" platform flip the rust?
April 22, 2025 at 6:15 PM
To be fair, your president can't keep my country's name out of his mouth, and your country's media overwhelms my border city, so I feel like I'm entitled to an opinion.

But go off I guess,
April 22, 2025 at 6:04 PM
It just feels like your "left" party refuses to take a strong stance on any leftist initiative - and I'm not even talking about the more radical left, but even basic stuff like pushing for actual healthcare - which every western nation seems to have figured out except the richest one!
April 22, 2025 at 5:48 PM
The alternative perspective of this is that the Dems are kicking themselves in the shin by refusing to meaningfully engage with more progressive leftist Americans.
April 22, 2025 at 5:21 PM
Trudeau turning around on ending first-past-the-post is honestly the most upsetting thing he did, in my opinion.

We really need something proportional lest we slowly devolve into a two-party system, and we can see how well that's going down south.
April 20, 2025 at 8:38 PM
By now, it really feels like everything is a distraction from everything else.
April 12, 2025 at 2:35 PM
Amen!
