Who thought having a get-out-of-constitution-free card was a good idea?
You know what would be scary right now?
If the U.S. had something like Canada’s Notwithstanding Clause, a constitutional escape hatch that lets legislatures override certain rights for five years at a time.
Yes, that really exists in Canada.

Who thought having a get-out-of-constitution-free card was a good idea?
One of my pet peeves with Canadian politics is the way we seem to demand an itemized how-will-we-pay plan from a party promising a social service, but a promise to cut-red-tape or lower taxes doesn't have to specify which red tape or which services will be cut to pay for the tax break.
