Read no.20 of 2025 and book club no.4. If you want a book where nothing really happens, then this is for you. Unfortunately, it wasn't for me...

Exams are pushing young people to their limit, and it's hurting their mental health. On 15th October there is a Westminster Hall Debate on reforming the educational assessment system. Please ask your MP to attend and call for the assessment system to be revised

This week, the Global Sumud Flotilla tried to deliver life-saving aid to Gaza.

Instead, 461 people—including New Yorkers—have been detained by the Israeli military.

They must be freed at once. And the deliberate starvation of Palestinians must end now.

Read no.19 of 2025. It's pretty much what you'd expect from Philippa Gregory, but it's great to read things from Anne Neville's perspective. I'm off to rematch The White Queen now 📚💙
Image shows the cover of the book 'The Kingmaker's Daughter' which has an illustration depicting King Richard III and his queen, Anne, Lord Warwick's (the kingmaker) daughter.

The scenes on our streets are shameful consequences of decades of austerity - government after government fanning the flames of anti migration instead of tackling inequality.

We can & must make different choices. Solidarity to all communities under attack. We stand together.

Read no.18 of 2025, book club read no.3 and reading challenge of complete (not stopping though).
I struggled with this to start with as found the story being written in the form of letters disorienting, but as I kept going I became invested in the characters, so I actually liked it in the end 💙📚

Have spent hrs & hrs on the phone/emailing on behalf of autistic son in the last couple wks, trying to sort out his PIP renewal or his OU registration. Now there's a big f*** up with the reg, meaning more phone calls, paperwork, etc. This folks is why unpaid parent carers find it hard to work...

Ireland, Slovenia, Iceland, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal are now all considering boycotting Eurovision unless Israel are removed.

Like if they should.

The first thing I said to my husband when I saw the headline was surely he should be arrested as soon as he gets here. This government is complicit

This articulates really well how I feel. The flags arrived in my area a couple of weeks ago and are gradually multiplying. There was a hotel protest yesterday, and the division on local social media is worse than ever before. I'll be honest I'm scared, I lie awake worrying about where it will all end

1. The Flags have arrived in my area.
They make me uneasy. It isn't I have a problem with them when we're celebrating something. Football. Olympics. Even a royal wedding. But right now they don't *feel* like a positive affirmation of stuff we like but more a protest against things people don't..
