Gimme one good reason to trust the Gorton's fisherman.

I just sauteed four thousand and two* mushroom slices in butter for soup, and my whole house is the smell of a Currier & Ives print of "Over the River and Through the Wood".

I just bought a set of 8 diner type mugs from goodwill-- brown outside, white inside-- as if I have 7 friends I might have over for coffee.

I agree! It is the disgusting norm in startups, unfortunately. (I also once had a nonprofit ED tell me she needed another few weeks to convince her team I was the best candidate, only to find out she'd started someone else already but was keeping me on the hook in case that person didn't work out.)

It really, really is. I just recently got a first interview scheduled, then had it moved out 10 days, then had it cancelled the day after they announced they'd closed a new funding round. So...the job never existed, and was just there to show potential funders they were "growing". 😒

When what you want is to be published, that must not feel like much. I go through that with job applications, so I get it.

Yes! Holy cow-- congrats on making it onto short lists and final rounds. That's exceptional.

I find that many of them don't realize we live in a cooperative collective. They think the structure of society exists separate from our participation in it.

I had a social studies teacher who explicitly taught us about that. Otherwise I may have taken another 30 years to learn it myself.

Pssht. Not even one Gord in that band.

I could have posted this favorite, too, which I imagine goes just as well with wagon paneling.

Yup. Me, reading 500 reviews just to exclude the minivacs have that additional high-pitched scream vs the ordinary dull roar.

This is two happy people in love, walking along the beach, by the blue ocean at sunset.

Oh damn, should I have vacuumed?

I'll never find it again, but I read some casual interview where someone asked if the symbol had special Chinese or martial arts significance. And the guys were like, nah, we just thought it looked cool.

Why I went with "good guy fighters" in my alt text. 😄

Mmm...chick-en.

Again, I must insist it's HE machines. If we still washed via swishing agitator, we'd be listening to another new Bowie album right now.

I've got one that visits me and my cat at my bedroom window every few months. He picks at the shingle siding to get our attention. I try to get mad at him to discourage the behavior, but he's just too adorably cute.
